“Loved the tranquility”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2013

We were surprised by the vast land in and around the adirondack mountains. Absolutely beautiful. We camped and enjoy the many trails along the lakes, rivers and rock formations. We'd love to come back with more time to spend exploring the beauty that surrounds this area.

“Every Manhattanite must do this once”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2013

There is nothing more "wholly other" to downtown New York than the upstate Adirondacks. For this reason alone, at some time this or any fall (spring, winter or summer), forty million people who work in the greater metropolitan area and anyone else who's yet to go, it would be a most enjoyable natural adventure to take a few nights in the area.

For myself, that occasionally becomes a chance to enjoy the annual Naples Grape Festival, visit a winery or two and drive in a panorama of unspoiled natural wonders all around the lovely Lake Canandaigua region in general. Take in a meal or two while pampered at local inns or stay at any number of thrifty clean motels with cozy restaurants dotted all along the way in every direction. It's all very memorable while equally relaxing.

“Adirondacks are New York's true Wilderness”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2012

This is as remote as it gets in NY. I have visited in last month when the temperatures in the city were a mellow 65 and it was in the lower 30s, 24F at night to be precise. Summer time would be ideal but Winter has its own charm.

You can loose yourself in Vast Wilderness and rugged Mountains here which are within Adirondack Park, which, by the way is the Largest Park in the US. It is bigger than Yellow Stone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier and Great Smokies COMBINED!

Is a Haven for campers, hunters, and nature lovers alike. Boasts of 46 Peaks over 4000 ft. and a plethora of Flora and Fauna.

The Park has around 3000 lakes for canoeing, Kayaking or whitewater rafting and fishing!!

But if you think that's for hardcore nature lovers.. that's not all, Adirondacks can be a perfect romantic getaway or just a great memorable trip with family as well.

You can find rustic log cabins, fine resorts, beaches, shopping outlets and various seasonal Events & festivals to spend your fun time here.

Just a little planning ahead will make all the difference.

“Bald Mountain and the Adirondack/Old Forge NY Region is wonderful!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2012

We took a hike up to Bald Mountain and toured the beautiful lakes region of the Adirondacks. There are outstanding views from different vantage points as well as various lakes to enjoy either to sun yourself and swim or just enjoy the fresh air and scenery. The drive up was a great experience and enjoyed our day long adventure in upstate. A must see if you are traveling through the area.
