Multiple sections of the MST are available and accessible directly from the Blue Ridge Parkway between Moses Cone Manor and Bamboo Gap. Use the MST interactive map to identify days hikes - http://www.ncmst.org/the-trail/interactive-map/. Using two vehicles will help with completing sections that run from Moses Cone to the Thunder Hill overlook, Thunder Hill to Aho Gap and Aho Gap to Goshen Creek. We regularly park our cars at each end and make the one way trek on each section. Avoid the crowds at the Cone Manor, Bass Lake and Price Park. Look for the MST signage and go off the beaten path!

I planed a 3 week backpacking trip starting at clingsmans dome Unfortunately due to family matters I had to come off the trail. However,it was a beautiful trip and I hope to return. It is also amazing for day hikes.

Hiked from Clingman's Dome to Blowing Rock. Amazing views, some easy walking on old Vandebilt and Cone property. Tough climbing at times especially coming out of Linville Gorge. Something for all level of hikers out there.

The MST is my favorite part of NC. Especially the Falls Lake portion. I am so lucky to have this recreational opportunity so close to my home, but it would be worth traveling to!

I have been day hiking the MST over the past year. I have completed about 500 miles of it. It is amazing. You experience nature from rugged mountains, small towns, wooded trails hidden within big city limits, and coastal plains. It is all you could ask for. Anyone can do it! Some parts are a little challenging, but for the most part an average person can do this. Hiking is such a relaxing sport and exercise.
