I read some other reviews of the towers that might give the impression that this hike is difficult or not worthwhile . That was not our experience at all. I am 72, my wife is in her 60s. Most of our hiking is done in the mountains of the southeast chasing waterfalls. We spent 10 days in Utah from Zion to Moab hiking at every opportunity and we found hiking in Utah to be both fun and physically reasonably easy for us. If you spend all your time on a couch and then go on a vacation where a lot of exercise is suddenly required you are going to have a hard time. Fisher Towers is a beautiful place. It is totally unlike Arches NP which you, like everyone else, will probably visit. Do yourself a favor and drive out early so you will be getting there just as the sun begins to come up. I got incredible, for me, sunrise photos. There is no real destination to the hike there. You are basically looking at some huge rock spires out in the middle of nowhere from all different angles at different distances. If you start to get tired, turn around and head back. You will probably get to see rock climbers doing their thing on the Towers. This was one of our favorite places/hikes in Utah. For us, way better than Zion, it was a great hike.

We have been told that we would be able to see this attraction from the road and not have to walk too far - by a park ranger. It was 97 degrees. It took forever to get to the parking lot. There was no one there to head us into the right direction or give us some tips. We walked for about 30 minutes, following a trail, and decided to turn around. I was so looking forward to seeing the spiral rocks and you could see that it was probably beautiful if you could get around the large wall of rocks. I would attempt it again after gathering more information about it.

It's easy to pass right by these en route from I-70 to Moab. Be sure to allow an hour ( or more) to get off Route 128 and explore this area. The hiking here is phenomenal! If these formations were somewhere else they would be a top attraction.

The towers are so sculptural; the views were spectacular; and the trail is interesting. At mid day you can feel lots of updrafts from the base of the towers as you hike around them. For those who are uncomfortable with heights there is one spot that might give you a butterfly or two. We had to guide one member of our group that does not like heights over that spot on our way out, but coming back she did it independantly. Definately bring lots of water and snacks. We noted that one group had troubles getting their larger dog down the ladder. I would not want to take a dog on this hike.

If you are in the Moab, Ut or Grand Junction Area this is a great half day, all day, weekend visit. There is a great out and back hike totaling 5.6 miles and what I would rate as easy to moderate depending on your fitness level. Well marked and laid out with several ascents and descents out of gullies and washes along the base of the towers. The Towers themselves are one of the most impressive roack formations found anywhere in the world and have sheer vertical walls ascending hundreds of feet straight up. Very popular with rock climbers, hikers, BASE jumpers, etc. In fact while we were there 5 jumpers parachuted off the summit of one of the highest towers in a breathtaking display of daring do. A half dozen or so climbers were on the rock as well. Also near by for exploration is Castle Valley, the Colorado River, and the La Salle mountains.
