Wow! We were very much impressed with Mount Saint Helen's. The drive up to the Visitor center was awesome. Make the drive alway to the end to the last Visitor center and you will be amazed.

On May 18, 1980 was the eruption on Mount St. Helen's.

“Absolutely Fantastic Expereience”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

This Drive through the National Park has been completely done over since the eruption. New bridges and wonderful places to stop and view nature. I believe it is about 40 miles to the Visitors Center. What a breathtaking view of the Mountain. You look right in to the destructive area. Hats off to the Parks people for making such an awesome presentation. There is a fee. The National Park Senior Pass is accepted.

truly a must visit for anyone going to the Pacific northwest. To witness the area after the eruption is something to behold. At the observatory you can look down into the crater. The power of nature at first hand.

“Have to Go”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

My husband and I took the drive to Mt. St. Helen's during the Portland, OR leg of our honeymoon. It was a bit of a drive, but worth every minute! We unfortunately did not get to see the view without clouds at the top of the volcano, but the drive alone was worth the trip. We stopped at every viewpoint and visitor center, had a guide show us elk in the conservancy at the base of the volcano, and learned so much much along the way. I cannot stress how beautiful the drive through the park was! Definitely worth a visit anytime you can make it.
