“So much better than expected”

I love this place!! I'm not a new junkie but I'd heard the Newseum was interesting. So, on a cold day I went.....wow!!!! Such a since a history. I'm talking headline news, sports, weather, the works. It's presented via newspapers, posters, life size exhibit and much more. All I can really tell you is "it'll be much more than you expect".

“Best Ticketed Museum in DC!”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

Wow! This is a great museum that is both engaging and educational. My favorite part was the displays of political cartoons and the front page of today's paper in every major city.

“Fun but with a cavaet”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

First: truth in advertising. As we were set to enter the museum we were given 2 free passes to enter. The rating is based on what it would have been if we had actually paid. The museum is pretty, interesting but not all that informative. It's actually not all that large as the center of the building is pretty much hollow. Very pretty sightlines and easy to get to but all of us (wife + 14 year old son) felt that something was lacking and would have been pretty disappointed if we had paid to visit. With all of the free museums in the city this has got to be a tough sell. FYI: Each ticket allows you to come back a second time but we wouldn't have given everything else there is to see in the city.

My teenage kids loved this place so I went to check it out. It is pretty pricey at around 22$ for a 2 day pass. I guess you could spend 2 days there, but not me with so much else to see and do in DC. It is a very interesting showcase of both current and historic news media with a very interesting timeline-display of early newspapers etc. There is something there for all ages above maybe 8 or so but I think 12-20 would be most amused. Overall very good and entertaining, just a bit overpriced.
