Owner description: A 19-foot bronze statue of perhaps the most esteemed founding father sits beneath a columned rotunda in the style of the Roman Pantheon.

Jefferson's role in USA's early history, although less known than others, is deserving of such a magnificent monument, looking across the basin towards the White House and the Washington monument.

But it is off the beaten track, and so you need to plan to go.

Note: This must be a marvellous site when the cherry blossoms are flowering. We were just a few weeks too late for that.

Thank Gary M

This memorial is, by far, the most beautiful and touching. It's set apart from the others on the mall. Breathtaking views of the city from here as well as of Jefferson's statue and virtues. Not as crowded as the others either.

Outstanding History. WAdc. The National Mall is full of green trees - it's cool walking there and lovely to see the Memorials such as Jeffersons!

I didn't see anything special about this place. It was just too much crowdy for me, and well, I didn't learn anything new or special by visiting it. It was a part of a tour, and if you have just one or two days, you can probably skip this one.

Compared to other memorials, it does seem very simple, very straightforward. I enjoyed the Declaration of Independence engraving.
Next time, we'll see it at night, all lit up.
