“Great Memorial”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

One of the most spectacular memorials in town for one of the greatest presidents, patriots and scholars the nation has ever produced. The design reflects that of the stunning Rotunda of the University of Virginia that Jefferson founded and designed.

“Majestic. Iconic. Great view of the city across the pond.”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

This is one of those places you have seen from a distance on TV and in the movies. From close up you don't see the beautiful, famous silhouette, but you see the statue of Mr. Jefferson and some incredibly interesting quotes -- take the time to read them. Take a few minutes and sit on the steps facing the pond and enjoy the view of central DC and other monuments. Consider walking around the pond to the understated and lovely FDR Memorial.

“A Bit Out of the Way, But Well Worth A Visit”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

Many toruists visit Washington D.C. and visit the Lincoln Memorial, the WW-II Memorial, The Washington Monument but never make it to the south side of the Tidal Basin to the Jefferson Monument. What a shame - its is grand and well worth a visit.
Like in the Lincoln Memorial, a figure of Thomas Jefferson is the centerpiece (albeit standing) with quotations on the walls from reflecting his great wisdom and forward thinking. The United States might be an entirely different place were it not for Thomas Jefferson and a visit to this memorial should be on anyone's "A" list when coming to D.C.
BTW: The view of the Washington Monument across the Tidal Basin is stunning!

“This is a necessary visit whilst in DC”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

A visit to DC is incomplete without a visit to the more famous monuments and memorials, including the Jefferson Memorial. It is an excellent tribute to Jefferson and his contribution to the United States' history. It is quite apt that his statue is looking directly at the White House.

“As the saying Goes....”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

It was uncanny how profound this man was. While reading all of his quotes, you can't help but wonder how futuristic his thoughts were. The views from inside were peaceful and serene. This is a must see in Washington D.C.
