Go see it at night when it is all lit up. You get a great view of the Washington Monument also. Of note, the Jefferson Monument had the worse bathrooms. Half of them were out of order and those that worked were very dirty.

It’s hard to relate to the man and the effort he made to help a nation evolve. The monument is well done and provides generations the opportunity to remember.

This memorial is beautiful and very serene. The quotes, inscriptions, and excerpts included in this memorial are truly thought provoking. We would suggest participating in a good guided tour or take the time to read about the purpose of its design and architecture in order to truly appreciate this memorial.

To us, one of the most surprising facts relating to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial is that it was only completed in 1943, for it seems that it’s timeless style has been here for a much longer period. Jefferson was the First Secretary of State, the Second Vice President and the Third President. Rightly one of the most popular Memorials.

My friends visited the Jefferson Memorial around nearly midnight on or way out of D.C. and it ended up being one of our highlights from the trip. We had a really hard time finding out how to drive to the memorial and ended up having to park a ways away and walk through some woods before stumbling upon it. Since it was so late at night the memorial was nearly empty except us and another coupe. The memorial was so quite and lit up it was a great chance to snap some photos. The view of the National Mall from the steps was so pretty as well. Advice, if you visited the monuments during the day, try the Jefferson at night to get a whole different feeling and environment.
