Owner description: Though the Library of Congress doesn't own every book ever published, it sure has most of them, with 532 miles of shelves and 115 million items, with 7,000 added each working day.

Our guide at the Capitol Building recommended we take the walkway to the Library of Congress. We couldn't actually get inside the library but the section that's open to the public (and the bit of the library I could see through the window) is some breathtaking architecture. It's definitely worth popping in for ten minutes just to take a look.

Beautiful building and displays. The front security was rude and overwhelming, but once through, the people at the information desk were awesome!

Beautiful building and great self guided tour brochure. All over the building are references to God, on whom our country was built. Just a matter of time before they dismantle it or pervert it so hurry to see it before it disappears.. Imagine, bibles on govt property and God invoked! Fantastic!

The Library of Congress was recommended by the ticketing staff at the U.S. Capitol and it proved to be a very interesting addition to our itinerary. Visitors are given a film and then taken on a tour to see some of the most famous exhibits. Not a big tour and the library itself could only be viewed through glass. An impressively extravagant if gaudy building which was a worthwhile addition to the U.S. Capitol Tour.

This was one of the most informative, engaging tours in DC.
It was interesting for our whole family, from my 8 year old through his 70-something grandma, and all of us in between. The building in beautiful, but once its explained it shines even brighter.
Dont miss this tour! and best of all, its free!
