“Very nice!”

I went into Fords theatre a little sceptical about how a "play" could do justice to the death of Lincoln. I felt like it would probably be a little hokey. I was wrong. The playwright did a great job in bringing Lincolns assassination to life, and did it in a respectful and informative way. One of the best sights to see in Washington.

This Theatre is incredible - regardless of its history. BUT, the history is incredible too. There is a small museum downstairs that is worth the time and effort. It is really incredible.
To see a show in the Theater is truly a great experience. To think of sitting in such an historic place, watching a show as Mr. Lincoln many times did, was just inspirational. The theater is really a beautiful work of art as well. The history is just a great "cherry on top".

“Incredible history”

Buy your tickets online in advance, as this attraction sells out early and often. You actually sit inside the theater and are spoken to by a character from the era of the Lincoln assassination. It's a fun event and the museum that precedes the show is fascinating as well. Lots of memorabilia from Lincoln and the day he was killed.

“History Comes Alive Here - Do Not Miss”

Visiting Ford's Theater with our children (ages 7 & 10) was one of the highlights of our week in Washington D.C. Unlike a museum or a monument, it is a place where a very important albeit tragic event in American history actually took place. We highly recommend getting a ticket which combines a visit to the museum, One Destiny and the Peterson House across the street. One Destiny is a powerful show with great performances that will illuminate the events around the assassination. The museum is fascinating and includes the weapon used by Booth to kill Lincoln. Very important - be sure to get your ticket ahead of time as they sell out. We also recommend separately visiting the alley behind the theater where Booth made his escape (accessible from F Street). Recommend your kids read Lincoln's Last Days and the adults read Killing Lincoln (both by Bill O'Reilly).

“A must visit”

Loving history, there was no way I could not see this. And I was not disappointed. To actually be in the building where Lincoln was shot, and the bedroom he died...it's almost more than you can take in. The attached museum has the gun that shot Lincoln-wow
