“Was hesitant at first, but glad we did”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

Was not going to visit this memorial but it was on our "loop" walk around the lakes visiting all the presential memorials. It was a nice tribute, not nearly enough not to mention a memorial should be constructed for all those who were "shunned" amongst other things when they came home from Vietnam. What most impressed me was the soldier or Park ranger posted there who explained the symbols on the memorial. Very interesting and gee whiz how many times a day he had to repeat himself and answer questions.

“Memorable”

This memorial is a must see when visiting Washington, D.C. It is especially moving to see some of the items and notes left by visitors. Park Rangers and books are available to help you look up a name on the wall.

“Sublime”

Amazing monument - so simple in its construction, however as you walk down it, so powerful in its scale. Amazing piece of art (pity the WWII memorial did not get the same treatment)

“A beautiful, yet somber place.”
Reviewed 4 November 2012

I served during the Vietnam era, though not in Vietnam. It is sad to see the thousands of engraved names that gave their lives in duty to this great country.

“Moving”
Reviewed 4 November 2012

This is literally a list of names but couldn't have been more moving. I am not an American but was so moved by this list of people by the date that they died. One of the most powerful things is that their rank is not mentioned. They are just people who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Very calm and classy. No glorification just simple acknowledgement.
