“Viet Nam Memorial”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

As a survivor of the war in Viet Nam, I am always moved when I walk through the valley formed by the memorial. It fills my heart with gratitude and my eyes with tears when I look at the thousands of others who were not as fortunate and did not return.

“underwhelming”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Perhaps it is that I didn't have a name to look for, but I was saddened that there was no explanation of the wall or meanings on its shape or how they laid out the names. There was a book of names on one side of the memorial that allowed you to look for the name and location on the wall. The wall itself is beautiful granite that is built into the ground. There is not any information on the wall other than a park service phone number to call for information. A placard of information would have been nice versus just the monument. That said, it is moving to see and it is sad to see all the names and know how much out freedom cost.

“Moved...to tears”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

This Memorial means a lot to fellow Americans of my age. We lived the time...a stunning tribute to so many lives lost for what turned out to be no purposeful end. May they all rest in peace and may we all make sure this does not happen again.

“Iconic”

This area is both inspiring and touching. You don't have to have a relative or friend serve in Vietnam to be affected by this beautiful memorial. The names of soldiers and the memorial's lovely but sobering design are enough of a reminder of war's consequqneces and the sadness they bring. It's a great tribute to men, some just boys really, who served for their country.

“Sad walk”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

My husband served in Viet Nam for 13 months 1970 to 1971, so this wall of the names of those who didn't make it home was a very touching experience. My husband came home. With numerous indexes it was very easy to locate the names of friends. classmates, fellow servicemen. A wonderful wall, and touching place to see the names of those who gave their life, or those who lost friends and family, in a very unpopular war. This is finally the long deserved thank you to those who did and did not come home. Beautiful area for this wall of names.
