“Everyone should experience it”

Walking around the National Mall was is a chance to experience the size and majesty of the area. I find that you can't really imagine the size of something until you are standing there. It really makes a difference. If you are in DC take the time for a visit. At night it's awesome too.

“excellent for all ages”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

if you like museums (and if you are going to Washington for a holiday you had better hope you do,), this is one of the best I've been to. The building itself is fabulous and then once inside the exhibits are world class. of all the Smithsonians, ranks as my second favourite after National Air and Space (but that's probably because you can't take the kid wonder out of a 45 year old when you are standing next to a real space ship).

All the Smithsonians are good and I would genuinely recommend them all.

“Kids loved it”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

We went really early for museum opening and beat the rush. Great exhibits, especially in the gems ( hope diamond is snaking!) and the mammals sections. Great fir kids lots of interactive bits for them both electronic and more traditional.

“Like all Smithsonian museums , it is free admission.”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Like allSmithsonian museums, it has free admission. A lot of floor space. Allow plenty time. For a country with just over 200 years of history, they pack a lot in
