While we were on an evening tour, we visited these monuments and walked around the tidal basin area to get from FDR to MLK. This area is very pretty & relaxing. There are some very low tree branches in need of trimming, but overall a nice place for a walk.

This was our first walk at the Tidal Basin despite having visited DC before. We enjoyed the stroll and the views. The area is a bit unkept in places but that did not deter our stroll. The area feels very safe and pleasant. Check the weather before you embark as there are few shelters and if you want to boat the paddle boats cannot be used when the water is choppy. You can check out the FDR memoral and MLK memorial on the route. It takes a while to walk it. There are restrooms near the MLK memorial. The designs of both of these memorials to great men kinda underwelmed us. I expected something more majestic for MLK and FDR. But the third destination, Thomas Jefferson's memorial was worth it and has a spectacular setting. Enjoy your lovely (if long) walk at the Tidal Basin. The next destination is the Mall near the Washington Monument where you can collapse under a tall and shady tree in the lush green grass. Ahhh!

Enjoyed being able to boat to the Jefferson and MLK monuments. After all the walking in DC, it was a nice change. We took out a boat for 4 and switched positions halfway. One hour was long enough to see both easily. Jus wish they were open earlier or later when temperatures are more pleasant.

A wonderful area to walk around and through, especially enjoyable when visiting Jefferson and other presidential Memorials. Easy, pleasant strolling.

If you like to walk (or jog or run), this is a wonderful loop. It goes around the tidal basin, under and between trees, and includes passing by memorials for Martin Luther King, Franklin Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson. There are some low-hanging branches, duck poop, and a little debris in the water along the way, but all in all it's one of our favorite outings in the DC area. Must do if you're up for it physically! I think it's a couple of miles around and flat for the most part.
