“Can not do it justice in a day”

Everything was so interesting. it is a little confusing as to the layout. certain exhibits are more crowded that others. I enjoyed the gems the most.

“Best way to begin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014 via mobile

We started our visit by the Castle. There is a free tour every two hours that is worthy: explains the history of the institute and shows a little bit of this first building.

“Great building, but nothing more.”

The smihtsonian headquarters seems to be a classic castle, but it seems to fall short of all the other buildings and museums in the area.

“The Castle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

This is the name it has as well. Very impressive building and a very expensive small cafeteria. There is also a gift shop and some interesting info around. The building is stunning with a small garden and a couple of tables behind.

“Interesting museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

This museum is well worth a visit if you are interested in the history of the American Indian. Well laid out rooms for different tribes on the fourth floor and a film to see if you want to wait. Lots to read in the exhibits but well worth the time to do so. Next floor down has more to see and many pull out drawers of further exhibits.
There is a nice cafe area and also a restaurant serving traditional food.
I did wish there was more to see about the Plains Indians or the Midwest tribes. But guess they may have their own museums in their areas. Still this WAS the National museum and not all were represented.
However, it was worth visiting and an enjoyable couple of hours spent here and it was free!
