“Not a lot to see”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

This is the iconic building you usually see in pictures depicting the Smithsonian. There isn't much in this building for exhibits but it does have a nice gift shop with reasonable prices and is a good place to get info on all of the other museums.

It's where it all began. Get the info you need to make the most of your smithsonian experience. Started us on the right path and made sure we had directions and times for all other blogs.

“Apparently closed right now”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

We went there wanting to see it, but it was locked up & apparently closed for construction & renovation. The exterior looks like a castle & is marvelous. I cannot wait to return & see what awaits us on the inside.

“Smithsonian Institution Building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

We call it a Castle. It was amazing to see the building, it is huge and beautiful, with so much history inside of it. The entire Smithsonian area is fantastic. It would takes days to see it all, well. Everyone has said over the years, you have to go to the Smithsonian. I had no idea, really, what to expect. Many, many museums there to go into, spend hours, and gather information and history. It's wonderful. It is free. The subway/metro can take you right to that area, or taxi's. I loved it.
