The only exhibits we had time to visit were the Italian exhibits. Lovely art, lovely building and decor. Would love to visit again and spend more time

“My little one likes it!”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

This place is amazing. So much to see, so much to do! I was worried about that my 18 month-old boy would be bored but he was the one who didn't want to leave! He loved the gardens, fountains and the concourse... He even liked the special stroller provided by the museum!

“Still a great National treasure”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

We stop by the National Gallery of Art every time we visit D.C. We never leave disappointed - it is an amazing place to visit. We hit it in August 2014 this time - I was dreading the crowds but it was not that bad. The only drawback was that the East Gallery is closed for a major renovation - I'm not sure of the exact date it will re-open - some time in 2017.

The special exhibitions are great - and everything is free!

“Degas & Cassatt - a must see exhibit! Museum is a national treasure!!”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

The special exhibit of Degas & Mary Cassatt is a must see if you get there before it closes in early Oct. I've always loved them both...and learned so much about their friendship, collaboration and mutual respect. The exhibit was very well done. We bought the audio which I would recommend. You get so much more background and side notes especially about what it was like for a woman painter in the late 1800s.

This museum is a true national treasure!!
