Washington DC is probably one of the best places to explore by foot. A (long) walk from Capitol hill to Arlington cemetery via the National mall is like a top 10 of memorials in the world. A word of caution- don't walk in the extreme heat if you are are not up for r it

The National Mall is laid out so well. My husband and I decided to walk from one end to the other. We started at the Lincoln Memorial and walked to the Capital, passing by the WWII Memorial and the Washington Monument. All along the Mall are the Smithsonian Museums. This is an experience that must be had while in DC.

Everything about these monuments is so so awesome. I love my country and love learning about it's history. Walking around and taking it all in was tons of fun. It can get hot and there aren't many places to eat/drink so if make sure to eat before you go and maybe take water. Taking pictures is a must.

We walked 8 miles through the mall and still didn't scratch the surface. You should pack a lunch as there is little but garbage to eat near by. There are so many museums and they are free. We will be back.

It might seem like a long walk from Washington's Memorial to Lincoln's but it's worth it. even in 80 degree heat there's plenty of shade in the tree lined path. Look at the ducks, admire the reflecting water and you'll be there in no time.
