“Americas' Front Yard”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

This is the two mile patch of lawn between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. It is bordered by some of the greatest museums in the world, the White House and most major monuments in DC. It is currently undergoing staged redevelopment.

“Never gets old”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

I've always enjoyed walking up and down the mall. If it's your first time, it's a long walk. The best time is after sun down when the crowds have dissipated, temperature is cooler, and the lighting adds a serene beauty to each monument.

“Nice long walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

Save some time for this. If you want to walk from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial it takes nice 45 minutes. But it is a nice walk through the most famous US Mall.

“Nice time in August”

The mall was the quietest I've ever seen it - weekend before local schools started up. Well worth the trip down. My kids enjoyed it.

“MASSIVE but Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

Man the Mall is so well maintained but it is so big. The distance required to walk it from monument to monument is an accomplishment in itself. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and are prepared to walk. You might want to plan to make several pit stops along the way. The Mall is level so you don't have to worry about hills. Consider doing the Segway Tour...it would be a perfect way to get from one end to the other. Or you could rent a bicycle too. If you want to do it on foot, be prepared to spend several hours making the rounds.
