“Loved it!”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

The butterfly habitat was awesome! We arrived early and headed straight there and avoided the MANY school groups! My grandkiddos were in awe of how close they were to the butterflies and the guides were great.

“Super-miniaturized rainforest”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

Liked: The butterflies! It's an unusual exhibit in that it is a self-contained sort of amorphous elongated bubble witjhin which they have created a climate similar to that of the Amazon Basin (hot, humid, and colorful). The whole thing is maybe 20 meters (60 feet) long. A butterfly landed on my nose during the lecture we received about "don't touch the butterflies"... I SO wish I had a pic...It's worth the wait and memorable.

Disliked: They only have scheduled "tours" (not very guided tours) so you'll have to work it into the rest of your touring schedule that day. Also it's just a little smaller and less going on than one would want from such a lofty sounding exhibit title.

“Peaceful Walk on the National Mall”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

The Butterfly Habitat Garden is NOT the exhibit inside the Natural History Museum but is an outdoor garden just off the National Mall on the Ninth Street side of the museum. Although it's only a short walk, it showcases four different butterfly habitats. Whether or not you actually see any butterflies, it's just just a nice, shady way to get between the Mall (Madison Drive) and Constitution Avenue.

I was delighted with the beauty of these amazing Creatures. There are many species of Butterflies and flowering plants in this Habitat.
Bring a little time and your Camera and you might even have one of the Butterflies land on you for Good Luck.
The Staffer on hand was helpful and knowledgeable. It is well worth a visit.
Also, if you love Butterflies, you will love the Movie in 3D "Flight of the Butterfly"
