I selected this B&B based on the overwhelmingly positive on-line reviews, but my husband and I were really disappointed. Although we arrived when the inn requested us to, no one met us at check-in...or at any time during our stay. We received a code by email to get into the building and a room key in an envelope once inside. That was the extent of our welcome. The whole place looked tired. The common area was tiny, dark and unwelcoming. The paint in our bedroom was dirty, the room was incredibly stuffy and the bathroom looked more like a bus station than a B&B. Small touches further degraded the experience - there were half-empty shampoo bottles left for guest use and there was no newspaper available - even for sale - on Sunday morning. The inn itself is located in the business area of Dupont, so our surroundings lacked the characteristic Dupont Circle charm that we had hoped for. On the plus side, the young man who prepared breakfast (the only staff member we ever saw) in the morning was pleasant and accommodating, and the breakfast was good. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet, so we did get a good night’s sleep.
