“The most noisy ventillation system I ever encountered”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

Upon entering the room a wall of noise fell over me, I switched off the fan of the airconditioning but the noise was barely reduced. Could not sleep at all, earplugs did not help.
For the rest: the room was large and clean but who cares with all that noise.

We stayed here for our anniversary. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and really made our trip special. There is a wine hour every day in the lobby, and a restaurant with a bar. The location is great, just a block from Union Station and a walk to great restaurants and other attractions. Wonderful.

We liked a lot about the George but it would not be a place we would aspire to return to. The staff was really great! The bistro spot on. The room however smelled bad even after they tried to fix it. ??? There is no view of interestingness just a office building. It is very close to the capital building and union station. The price and the people are the draw here.

We're DC natives, but I planned a girl's lo-cation (local vacation) for my friend's 30th. Our arrival at the hotel started off the weekend perfectly; we were greeted so warmly, and when we got to the room there was a beautiful plate of treats and they had written in chocolate "Happy Birthday Erin!" on it. There was also a bottle of wine and a hand-written note. We loved the animal print robes and immediately threw them on to go to the steam room before dinner! While the steam room was not incredibly spa-like, its part of the fitness center, it was a great added-value amenity. We had brought a bottle of champagne and when we called down for an ice bucket, they brought one up immediately. We were only there one night, but since we were hanging out in the area the next day they held ALL of our luggage for us, including keeping my friend's flowers in water; when we went to pick our stuff up they were sure to ask my friend and make sure she had a good birthday--the service was awesome. My only issue with our stay was Bistro Bis; the food was good, but I was underwhelmed, although my friends loved it. The real problem though was we had a late reservation, after the rush, and it was like the place had no energy left. The service was incredibly slow; there are some other restaurants in the area that are supposed to be good. I would try one of them. (They did bring my friend another plate of complimentary treats at dinner!)

We had business in DC but pleasure was also the purpose of a week's visit to our nation's capital. So we picked the Hotel Geo for its location...right at the foot of the Capitol and short walk to the Mall. It is small enough to feel cozy, which is pleasant when in such a huge city. The service is very good -- acilities fclean, a paper in the morning, Bistro Bis restaurant downstairs with good food, helpful desk. But DC is very expensive and crowded. That colors my reaction to the Hotel -- compared to other Kimpton hotels, the room was small and price high. Be prepared for sticker shock on your restaurant tab and the tax on the room.
But walking and riding bikes in the city is wonderful.

Room Tip: Avoid a room next to the elevator bank.

I chose this Kimpton because of the location and because they are dog friendly (I was traveling with my big puppy). Aside from the modern amenities, great food at Bistro Bis, and super clean room, the staff is what really made this trip memorable. Everyone was beyond helpful and made us feel as though we were staying with friends. One in particular that stood out was Michael who hosted the happy hour in the lobby. He was awesome and gave us great tips for local restaurants. Another perk - Capitol Hill is quiet on the weekends which made it very nice to stroll around with the dog. Absolutely loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone staying in DC!

Absolutely an amazing stay! The accommodations were phenomenal, the employees superb! Our every wish was taken care of in minutes. Edgar Padilla, Guest Service Agent was remarkable, I couldn't have hand picked a better more accommodating front desk, Service Agent, from the moment we entered and he greeted us to the morning we left, he took care of anything we asked of him. Edgar was truly a bonus to our stay at Hotel George, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone if you are looking for a great stay in DC- Hotel George is the place. Great location, close to Union Station, fabulous rooms, and an amazing staff!!!
