I have been coming to the Tabard Inn for years and have come to love it's quirky cosy character as you would an old family friend... This latest trip I began to feel that maybe the time to find a new place to stay had come. The restaurant and bar maintain their high level of service and excellent food but the overall service experience is at best terrible - along the lines of we don't need you, we don't like you, go away. I'm a pretty happy traveler, easy going and polite and I find the staff (especially at breakfast) to be comically rude and the front desk impolite and unfriendly.
The rooms are quaint, but are musty, smelly and seem not to get cleaned on a daily basis, the staff seem to find it offensive if you need a towel, a hair dryer or an iron.
It is a place to love but it needs love to keep it going and you get the sense that the love has definitely gone away from the Tabard InnMore
