Got here on Memorial Day weekend, nice and quiet, but come Tuesday morning (3 am) construction started across the street! WTF??? 3 a.m.???? No gym, as advertised ( I hear it's been closed for over a year....NEWS FLASH.... UPDATE your website!), AND, cleaning crew decides that instead of replacing tissues they would.... A - put tissue box on the floor under the vanity in the bathroom the first day as to not replace tissues, then B - take the tissue box cover away completely from the bathroom the next day.... never replacing the tissues in the bathroom! I had to go to the front desk staff to ask for tissues, who gave them to me begrudgingly. The room was nice enough, and the staff did come daily, but overall, would recommend alternative digs. AND, they have the audacity to charge $5 for a continental breakfast!

Working at the Washington conference centre meant the Eldon Suites are ideal, a short walk away.

Being suites meant I didn't have to dine out as the suite has everything you need to cook for yourself.

All in all a good pratical choice to base yourself if you are working close by.

It does not help this property to be in the center of a massive construction site that encompasses several blocks around 9th street and Pennsylvania. However, the advertising leads you to believe that this property is similar to the Jefferson, State, or other boutique DC properties. I have logged well over 100 trips to DC in the last 20 years and have stayed in places from the Hay-Adams and Jefferson to the Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton properties, and I find this one as one of the least desirable. The bathroom and shower were well outfitted, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and there is a nice large kitchen with modern appliances, but the cold marble floor and dated furniture are a detraction. The wireless internet never worked properly, the staff were much more attentive to each other and their plentiful friends than to the guests, and the business services were virtually nonexistent. The breakfast was abysmal - total carbohydrate - one could use the bagels to hammer nails and the mechanical coffeemaker put out awful tasting stuff. It would not have been so bad if there were places to eat in the area, but the construction went on for blocks with nothing open. The only people that I could recommend this to are families wanting to economize while still having separate rooms and eating in - a 24 hour Safeway is only 4.5 blocks away. Metro access is also reasonably close, but don't count on a cab in this construction area - you will need to walk to the convention center to have any chance of finding one. Note to investors - once the construction is over, this place does have great potential with a total refurbishing of the facilities and could, with effort, make a nice private luxury property close to the convention area - but it is far from that now.

Roof top gym they advertise has been closed for over a year. Room had a 12" TV they couldn't replace with the advertised 32" until someone moved out. (THEY DONT HAVE ENOUGH FOR THE ROOMS). next to no supplies for kitchen. We had glass top table with broken leg they couldn't fix or replace. Housekeeper show up once in four days. WiFi doesn't work. Location is several blocks from metronome. All guests were complaining.

Room Tip: Rip off. Still advertise gym they haven't had for over a year. Broken glass table they wouldn...

Three of our family had a suite. The sofa bed was broken, no recompense for a poor nights sleep.
The reception staff did not appear to be surprised when we reported it in the morning, suspect they already knew about it.

My friend Wanda and I stayed in room 002 Liberty Suite for 4 nites last week for the Oncology Nurses Society conference at the Washington Convention Center which is just a half-block walking distance away. We paid $314 per nite, a great value, as our officially sanctioned Renaissance Marriott Hotel for the convention...about 2 blocks away....would have cost well over $500 per night. Our Eldon Luxury suite had 2 separate living rooms, full kitchen, 2 separate baths, 2 separate terraces, living room w/chairs and pull-out sofabed and flat screen tv, etc, and was at least 900 square feet or more. The Renaissance rooms would have been at least $200 more per night and were only about 300 or so square feet. Great staff, and very attentive to all our needs. I left all my essential prescription medication behind and they kept it for me and will ship it back UPS. They offer a continental breakfast, onsite parking for about $35 or so nitely(there are no Convention Center lots closer than 2 blocks away). The Mt. Vernon Metro Station is an easy 2block walk away from the hotel. YES the construction noise from the Marriott Marquis construction site outside the Eldon is apparent but it was not an issue for us at all. We felt very safe walking even late at nite in the street outside. This is not a full-service hotel with the fancies like room service, restaraunt, bar, pool but we did not require any of that. Several local great cafes within walking distance and CVS around the corner offers basic grocery essentials and that was fine for us. I will post pictures in a few days.

I recently stayed here for one night. The apartment is spacious and well equiped, but the location is not ideal! It is fairly close to a Metro station, but far from any tourist attractions. There are very few restaurants in the immediate area. The staff is friendly, struggle with English and some don't speak it at all.
