“Extremely comfortable”
Reviewed 8 October 2013 via mobile

Nice room for a good night's sleep. Bed extremely comfortable (wonderful soft pillows). Coffee maker and refrigerator in the room. Bathroom OK, although the towels could be larger. There was no bathtub, only a large shower stall.

The hotel is adjacent to the Metro, and there is a 7-Eleven immediately outside with newspapers, food and drinks. The hotel's business lounge offers complementary copies of The Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

The hotel's bistro restaurant and bar is pleasant but not outstanding. The breakfast offerings include items for quick takeaway.

A pleasant choice, particularly for business travel.

We were in town for a family wedding. Staff members were cheerful and friendly. Especially the female security guard at the entrance; she always greeted us warmly. Our room was lovely. Clean and spacious. The temperature control made it very comfortable. Our room was toward the end of the hall. We never heard any other guests. The restaurant was just ok. One of us had French toast for breakfast. The other had scrambled eggs. The French toast was perfect. The scrambled eggs were awful. We each ordered an espresso drink. One of ours came with an inch-long sliver of wood. When we brought it to the staff's attention, they replaced the beverage but they didn't seem particularly concerned. I found that alarming. The barista seemed to think that the sliver came from a wooden stirrer. I don't think so. The sliver appeared to be a different type of material altogether.

The location of the hotel had pluses and minuses. On the one hand, it is right next to the Metro. This made it very convenient to get around town. On the other hand, the neighborhood was populated by fast food types of restaurants. We were looking for a nice place to have lunch. Potbelly's was as close as we got.

The hotel appears to border on a rough neighborhood, but this was never an issue for us.

Thank you very much for the review and I apologize fornot being able to meet your expectations during breakfast. The NoMa neighborhood is the fastest growing area in all of Washington DC. New and upcoming food and shopping will be opening early next year.

This area of DC is very interesting, as it borders a relatively decrepit yet safe area. On one side, you have New York Avenue which features a Wendy's (horrible, don't go there) and a Burger King past the bridge. On the other side, there is bustling commerce area with some nightlife, businesses, restaurants, and a great grocery store.

The main issue with this area is that it is dead.at.night. But that's fine. There's a 24-hour 7-11. If you're staying here because of the price, rest assured that you'll be super-connected to everything in DC by virtue of the New York Ave metro that this hotel is literally connected to. Just be sure to

As far as the hotel itself, it's unremarkable in a good way. It has a weird 2nd floor system that requires you to elevator up to the lobby. The parking is valet only and very expensive. This hotel features the updated Courtyard interior and was big and comfortable. The shower, towels, amenities -- all great. But you're probably not visiting DC for the hotel.

Thank you very much for the feedback and rating. Our section of Washington DC is the fastest growing area this year. The access to the red line metro is a very fast and easy way to visit downtown DC without the added cost with a closer location.

I was fully satisfied with all aspects of this hotel during a three night stay for an event at the Smithsonian Postal Museum. My room was large, clean and comfortable. So was the lobby. Free WIFI was reliable and easy to use. All staff members I dealt with were friendly and helpful. I had breakfast at the hotel all three days. The food was basic but tasty: cereal, some egg dishes and Starbucks coffee and pastry. I had no problems but witnessed the food service slow considerably with a surge of customers. Other dining choices such as Au Bon Pain, Five Guys Burgers and several upscale restaurants (plus a 7-11) are next door or nearby. A great asset is the adjacent Metro station (NoMa-Gallaudet University) which provides easy access to the rest of the city. I didn't venture far from the hotel on foot, but found the surrounding blocks to be clean and orderly.

Family of 4 stayed at the Marriott to go watch the Mets play the Nationals. It was a great location. We walked to the ball field. The subway and bus stop are 1 block away. The room was a nice size and spotless. Starbucks is in the lobby -- free coffee in the room. Parking is not included but available at a reasonable price ($29).

Our room was nice, the bathroom was well kept and clean, the beds are very comfortable, the free WiFi works perfectly. The receptionist at the lobby was very helpful and friendly. All in all, a nice experience regarding the stay at the hotel. The thing I did not like was the fact that the lobby is located on the second floor. The entrance to the hotel on the ground floor is a small and not very good looking reception hall, not necessarily very well kept, leading to the elevators. Anyway, once you get to the second floor, things do get better.
The problem with the hotel has to do with the location. It has pros, it has cons.
Yes, you do a have a metro station a couple of steps away, plus a 7-Eleven next door, and a Five Guys and other places to eat just across the street. But the look and feel of the area may make you feel uncomfortable, even quite uncomfortable, especially at night. It certainly detracts from the overall experience.
Pros: Nice rooms, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, location.
Cons: location.
