Admision is free, guides are realy friendly and they know how to make tour interesting. There are a lot of turist especialy in summer but anyway great place to visit.

Our Senator set up a tour for us at the Capitol. We were given headphones so we could hear our tour guide as he spoke into a microphone. I think some of the others tours (like the Library of Congress or the Air & Space Museum) should do this as well. The rotunda and the adjoining rooms are beautiful but it was great to hear the history and decisions made for the design of the rooms as well as what the different paintings depicted and why they were chosen to hang in the rotunda. We also learned about the different state statues represented in the rooms. It feels you with pride and it made me feel very patriotic and proud to be an American citizen. It is highly recommended and not to be missed.

You'll hace to make reservations through internet. Lots of security to go through, so be early.
The building is impressive, but the tour doesnot bring you at the meetingarea, only through corridors and halls. Impressive and a must see is the ceiling. But expect a lot of explaining about art and historie. Bit disappointing you're not able to see where its all about: the actual meetingrooms!
Then again everyone should have visited this building.

If you go through your representative and get gallery/tour tickets the experience will be awesome. Senator Burr's (R-NC) office gave us a tour of the building and escorted us to the gallery. We saw the rotunda and some other rooms that you didn't even know existed. Great experience.
