“Unexpectedly beautiful”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

I had never seen pictures of this memorial so did not know what to expect. There are waterfalls running all through this memorial, and they are lovely, as well as restful and peaceful. The sculptures of Roosevelt (with his beloved dog), and of Eleanor are beautiful. There are also sculptures of people in a bread line. Another feature is one for those who are sight impaired which includes inverted impressions of faces, and the description in Braille. I was with a group so could not linger, but I would love to have taken more time at this memorial, which encompasses several acres.

“More Than Just Statue”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

The FDR Memorial is much more than a statue of a historic figure, it is a historical journey through his 3+ terms in office, with numerous accompanying figures to give you the feeling of the time. From the bread line, to the war years, to Eleanor Roosevelt, the Memorial captures the flavor of this critical time in our history and is unlike any of the others around the Mall. Make a point of walking the few extra steps just to the right of the Lincoln Memorial to experience this very special setting.

“Interestingly made memorial”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

A wonderful story of FDR's Presidency. Visited at night and enjoyed the effects of the lighting...wanted to go during the day, but was not able to on this trip (first on my list if we travel to DC again).

“Quite different than most of the DC Memorials”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

The layout of this memorial is quite different, but it is beautiful and impressive none-the-less. A must see when in DC.
