“Best kept secret in Chinatown”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

Dinner in this lower level nice a quiet restaurant was a bit of a surprise, considering we just walked into it without reservation. As per the hostess: all their meats and vegetables are organic, very good service: intuitive, reasonably quick and helpful in choosing the right dish. Beef and fish were prepared just the right way, but best of all was my daughter’s kid’s meal with unbelievable wings and French fry made from scratch. They don’t have kid’s meal on the menu; don’t forget to ask for wings

“Memorable fine dining experience-farm rustic-lunch and dinner!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

We were in the area for a meeting and decided to visit this restaurant we had heard so much about. Memorable. Walk down from entrance to a very clean and welcoming space.
The food was excellent. I had a oyster and chorizo fish stew that had just the right amount of heat. My partner had a Mac and cheese lobster sandwich on wonderful bread and a small tomato soup that had great texture. I loved my burger and fries. We enjoyed it so much we returned for a dinner with four people soon after. The dinner ambience is totally different from lunch, very welcoming lighting and comfortable. Four different appetizers and four mains were all enjoyed by all. I had the stew again and loved it. Lamb, elk sausages, a duck special were all beautifully presented and delicious. Excellent hamachi choice. Loved the "cauliflower risotto." Sauces were superior, seem to be a specialty of the chef. Cheese course was memorable. I think the self designation of farm rustic is apt. Excellent wines choices by the glass, and cocktails from a visible attractive bar. The special French 75 was a standout choice. All in all an excellent meal. I wonder if some of the reviewers ate at the same place I did. Perhaps the service and food have just improved and come together. A great choice in DC

“No longer curious”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

We have a theater subscription to a near by theater and walk by this place frequently and we finally tried it last night. The food was just ok, bar/drink menu nothing special and service was so so. The menu is enticing, but it just falls short on so many accounts. We left disappointed. The final touch, and I was tempted to give it a "poor" rating because of this, but realized it wasn't about the food. Was that a gentleman using a walker entered through a side door, so they had to displace the table of 4 who had just received their entrees to move them the table out of the way so he could enter the restaurant (I guess I forgot to mention when you walk in, you go down two flights of stairs- no sign of an elevator and the hostess area is cramped near the kitchen and restrooms). In addition to displacing the table of four, we were also in mid meal and they carried a chair over my head to make room for the gentleman and his wife to pass. After they passed this was repeated with no apologies to us. I certainly hope the table of four got better service than us after that incident. Certainly not a way to treat any customers...three parties disrupted for poor floor planning!
So many other places in the area I'd rather go!

“Pre-theater hit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014

Had a Saturday evening pre-theater dinner here. Our waiter and the staff were very helpful in getting us through in time for the show, without our feeling rushed. Ambiance was pleasant and relaxed. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We've had dinner here before and the experience has been uniformly good. Highly recommend
