“great stay, close to the metro”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2014

we stayed here for 3 days, starting on Christmas day. we arrived around 8 p.m and hoped to find something to eat around. we know it was Christmas day but still, it's the capital, and we assumed more options will be available, but we ended up eating at the Mcdonalds up the street. that has nothing to do with our great stay at the hotel. our room was quite and comfortable. it was of the rooms that face the street, and it's true there is construction going on, but the noise wasn't that loud and didn't bother us since we left early every morning to start our day travelling. there was a big storm the night before we arrived and they some problem with the water pressure but it was fixed the next day and again, nothing that was upsetting. at the corner there is a big supermarket with some great fresh salads and sandwiches so we had that once for dinner, cozy in bed. the noma line metro is right across the corner so it was easy to use, but you can also walk to union station- about 10 minutes walk. we didn't really understood the way the metro card works so make sure to ask someone. the area is developing with a lot of business buildings, but you can find your Starbucks, cvs and more. it's not a scary area to walk at night, just not really residential.

...on day 1, at 11pm when returned to the hotel from convention, I was informed that I am checked out and my personal belongings (including safe content) were packed by the hotel personnel. The manager had no idea what was the reason and obviously there was no room available. Moreover, there was another gentlemen, who just tried to check in, but his reservation was also canceled for no apparent reason. We both traveled at 1am to another 30m away hotel. Is this a coincidence for 2 of us???!!! I don't believe that...

Dear Alex Y,

I am very sorry that your stay with us was anything less than fantastic. I am puzzled by your experience and would certainly like to get to the bottom of it. My contact information is below, and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so that can figure out exactly what happened here. We failed to live up to our own high standards, and hope you will give us an opportunity to win your trust once again.

I just spent two nights at the Hilton and I can honestly say that it was a little better than I expected.
The hotel is very old and some effort has been put into the place to keep it acceptable. The rooms were spacious and clean with above average beds. There was no mini bar are bottled water in room and i never found an ice machine. The internet was available but pathetic. The window would not open and there was no air conditioning so room was stuffy and sometimes hot.

The location of hotel was the best amenity and it is the only reason you would ever consider paying 250+ per night for a stay here.

Room Tip: Try to get a room not facing the street. There is little insulation and street noise is louder than...

Dear Mark B,

Thank you for taking time to post your review. I am glad to hear that you found our rooms clean and spacious (thank you,) but a little surprised that you thought the hotel was old. We opened just 3 years ago in April of 2011 and most reviewers tend to think of us as new hotel in a rapidly growing part of the city. The speed of our internet and air conditioning is usually quite good as well. I am sorry that you experienced anything less.

My contact information is below. Please contact me directly the next time your travel plans include Washington DC so I may personally handle your reservations, and ensure all is in order prior with your stay. Again, thank you for your review and I hope to see you again soon!

Sincerely,

Stayed here in 2013 it was awful. Dirty, loud, parties in the room next door. This year service seemed to have greatly improved. The maid service did a great job. The front desk staff were much nicer. In fact Teemon even helped me put a bandaid on my heel, that is above and beyond.
Location will be great eventually, once all the construction wraps up. Getting cabs was difficult, and the guy there offering rides was overpriced. But the metro was so close by it more than made up for it.

The actual hotel is fine, with nice rooms, a nice workout facility and small pool. Excellent beds--a great night's sleep. The public spaces are small but adequate; not always as clean as they could be. Breakfast was a real plus with a nice buffet and custom omelets.
Here's the weird part. The hotel is in a section of town that is obviously being redeveloped. There are lots of new buildings popping up all around--either under construction or just opened (at least it looks that way); there is very little pedestrian or street traffic. Our room looked out on some office buildings that looked all but deserted. Sort of post-apocolyptical. None of the vibrancy found in other neighborhoods; the walk to the convention center is sketchy. My guess is that in a few years the area will be hopping, but for now...strange.

We stayed here for one night after. 13 hr drive from Florida in mid February. We were all very tired.

Had great Ethiopian meal a few blocks away.

Valet parked our car. We left all our stuff (suitcases, kids iPods, beats headphones) in it and nothing was stolen overnight. I know that's generally a bad idea in DC, but nothing happened. 5 stars to the valet guy for putting it in a good spot.

The room was clean, and the beds were very comfy for 2 adults 2 kids and a baby.

Staff was very friendly with our kids.

Kids asked lots of questions about DC, so we'll be back for a weekend trip in a few months.

It's a new hotel, room is very nice, the hotel is as well. The staff is great, from the moment you walk in to when you leave, they friendly, helpful and sincere. My sense is that they gave pride in the hotel and want it to be successful
