I really enjoyed the friendly and unpretentious service from all of the staff. The lounge/restaurant has a comfy home-style feeling, and the rooms were equally so. I'm guessing this was a pre-war apartment building? Owing to the ornate molding and high ceilings, etc. Sure beats the corporate cookie-cutter hotels.
It was also a very quiet hotel for being on busy Connecticut Ave. Lots of alternate eating options in the area and most within walking distance of a great neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again.

Dear Ryan. W,

Thank you for the wonderful feedback about the staff. We are pleased that you enjoyed your room, the lounge /restaurant which definitely have a special comfy feeling. The building was actually built in 1902 and called the Highland luxury apartments. Then in 1955 it was sold to an investor and turned into a hotel. Ryan we are delighted to welcome you back during your next visit.

We stayed here recently for 3 nights for a trip that included both work and family events. The service was outstanding and immediately noticeable. Not in an overly formal way, but just down-to-earth, happy staff who really want to help you and are very competent. It was fabulous as we had a 10 hour drive each way and two little kids, so we definitely were tired and needed some support! The room was a bit "worn around the edges", and really could use a curved shower rod, but it was nicer than I expected in terms of the main furniture, and a great size at 550 square feet. The issues in the room with some of the furnishings were fixed promptly and some issues we had with booking were also addressed courteously and fairly. Parking is very expensive but free on the street on the weekends if you can find a spot. For the location, it's got to be a great value. We didn't eat there so can't comment on that. Great location, amazing staff and service. Would go back again!

Room Tip: We were facing a side street and it was really quiet. We had jr suite and the alcove and sleeper so...

I stayed here during the week leading up to the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, along with several of our team members. The staff was great and very accomodating with the special requests from our team.

I look forward to our next visit.

Worked out of the Churchill with a team during Inauguration. I didnt stay over night, but spent some quality time in their lounge area. Great food, excellent staff. So accomodating for our team. Walking distance from DuPont which is a definite plus!

Ok, Washington is definitely expensive, especially the weekend before the Inauguration! I wasn't there for that, but rather I was there for meetings the week before. The hotel is very nice and certainly more luxurious than other places I know in Washington. The staff were extremely kind. The view of my room was also beautiful, overlooking a nice statue and classical architecture in some buildings. The room was also very spacious. Internet wasn't entirely good but decent (meaning skype but no video was possible).
However, I think 350+ USD per night is pretty expensive, especially when it doesn't have breakfast... thankfully I had an organization pay my way, but if it would have been another time of year (non-inauguration) I would have definitely picked another.
