Stayed over a long weekend in a junior suite with 2 double beds. Our flight came in early in the morning and we Metro'd and walked our way to the hotel in hopes of storing our luggage until check in time, but Michael at the desk asked us to wait a few minutes and they would get our room ready right then! Very soon we were escorted by the Head of Housekeeping to our room where we could freshen up before going out again. The room was spacious, everything was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable, with feather pillows and duvets. The hallways have a slightly mazelike quality, and the carved moldings have been painted many times, in the way that older hotels often do, but this is exactly the sort of thing that drew me to the place. It definitely carries an old European hotel vibe. As many others have mentioned, the staff are all smiling and helpful. The location near Dupont Circle is convenient to many good restaurants. Most nights we ate dinner within a block of the hotel. Yes, there's a bit of a hill if you're walking up from the Metro, but that is DC. Parts of it are hilly.

Dear Leslie S, Thank you for your five star review! We really appreciate you taking the time to post a review of The Churchill hotel. I'm so glad I was able to check you in right away which enabled you to get settled and plan your day accordingly. It's little things such as an early check in that really let our guest's know that we care about them. Thank you for also mentioning the cleanliness of the hotel and the comfortable bedding; most guest's that have stayed at The Churchill would definitely agree with you. I am Michael, so please let me know when you plan on returning to The Churchill and I'll make sure you have the best of everything. See you soon!

Perhaps above the charm of the hotel, was the considerate and happy vibe of the staff. From the front desk to the housekeepers, everyone was charming and accommodating. While it is not at all a cookie cutter hotel and there are a few minor imperfections to the rooms (as seen in the photos), the hotel is charming, quiet, and a great value.

I would agree that no matter what room you have, the walls are thick. We didn't hear a thing. We will always stay at this hotel when in town and recommend it as it is not over the top but a great place to come home to after a day in DC.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 8th floor (there are 9 floors) opposite the Marriott Courtyard hotel. While our view wasn't the best, it was very quiet.

We stayed over the 4th July weekend, and got a room for $99 per night including breakfast. The staff were lovely and helpful, always a greeting and ensuring you were having a good time. We were in room 831 at the front, very spacious and the bed was large and comfortable. The bathrooms are small and a little tired, but very clean and the hotel is restricted by the shapes of the walls given it was built as apartments. Wi-fi is free for the slower speed option, and good strength. Breakfast was usually a buffet (charged at $14 if not included in your rate as ours was) and to be honest is was very ordinary. The bagels were the best part as the hot options were not hot and not great quality really. Convenient for us as it was included, but if not included I would grab something elsewhere. The hill back to the hotel mentioned in many reviews is only the last 100 yards or so, and is not particularly steep - we had no issues with it. We walked most places and the location was convenient for Georgetown, 14th street restaurants and heading down to the mall. We ate at China Lights one night - beware the portions are enormous, but very tasty!

Room Tip: Room 831 was perfect for us - large, quiet and with a nice view.

Dear tal27, Thank you for your five star review and for sharing your experience with TripAdvisor readers. You're absolutely correct, room 831 (a junior king suite) and has a lovely east view of the city, especially when it's very sunny outside, a spacious interior, and the bedding is very comfortable. Your description of the walk from Dupont Circle gives an accurate picture, although walking up a slight incline can be a little cumbersome for some guest's. Also, thank you for mentioning the temperature of some breakfast items; we'll definitely improve on that and hopefully you'll notice a difference on your next visit to The Churchill. Take care!

My husband, son and I stayed here in late June. Convenient access to Metro, right in Dupont Circle so lots of great restaurants and stores nearby. Kasem, the front desk agent, was always a friendly face and provided us with lots of helpful tips. The room itself was neat and well maintained. Bed was very comfortable and A/C worked great for our Northwestern inability to deal with the D.C. humidity. We appreciated the mini-fridge that helped make our food dollars stretch a bit further. Breakfast downstairs was additional and pricey, but they will sell you a Starbucks coffee to get your day started. Overall, a great value in this expensive city and a gem of a find. Would highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed at the Churchill Hotel for four nights the week before the 4th of July. First of all, the location is quite nice. It's about a thirty minute walk and Metro ride to the mall area. The closest Metro stop is Dupont Circle (the hotel is about a 10 minute walk) Once you get to Dupont Station just take the Red line a couple of stops and transfer to the Blue line for the rest of the trip. Pretty easy. When coming from Regan airport, just hop on the Blue line at the airport and transfer at Metro Center to the Red line up to Dupont Circle. It's very simple to do. The hotel itself is very clean and well appointed. The staff are super friendly and can give you all sorts of information on things to do around DC and how to get to the various attractions. In the evening, a nice walk around the hotel neighborhood will take you past lots of cool embassy houses. There are a bunch of nice restaurants all down Connecticut towards Dupont Circle. The hotel has a nice restaurant as well and we chose to have all our breakfasts there. Just for convenience. They were really quite good. The next time we go to Washington, we will definately stay at the Churchill again. By the way... i said the staff was helpful. They even brought me behind the counter and let me use their computer to print out my boarding passes. I would say that the Churchill is a great value for the investment.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 7th floor facing the side. I think they all are similiar.
