“Temporary visitor center”
Reviewed 3 April 2013

If you are planning a trip to DC then you will certainly know the White House Visitor's Center is being renovated and the temporary location is on the Ellipse. It is located in a trailer. It is run by the National Park Service. Staff stands outside the door to provide maps of The Mall and White House information incase you have no interest in waiting for your turn to enter the trailer. There is an informational video for watching and a small store with items specific to the White House. A park ranger is available to provide information and assist children with the Jr Ranger program or to stamp your Passport book. The trailer is adjacent to restrooms and a concession stand.

“Closed, under renovation and relocated”
Reviewed 17 March 2013

We were not aware that the White House visitors center was closed for renovations and temporarily relocated until we got to the building. There should have been better notification.

“Stop in before, after or in lieu of a White House Tour”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

The Visitors Center gives context and background to a visit to the White House. It's adjacent to where White House East Wing start, so it's very convenient. You can spend 10 minutes or two hours in the Vistor Center and it won't be time wasted.
