“Big hotel, Good staff”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

The Marriott Wardman is just a few blocks down the street from the National Zoo, and right next to a Metro station. Lobby and conference areas are large and well appointed. Staff were on hand during changes from a general session to break-outs to direct people to the various levels where training sessions were held-- a nice touch. The hotel sprawls over several buildings connected by enclosed walkways, so as a friend said, he had to go up to the ninth floor to get to the lobby area. So if with other companions, make sure and ask to be in the same tower at least. Room I had was in the Central Towers, a big 10 story complex that had 3 different hallways to rooms. Room was updated though you could tell it was an older hotel. Room was somewhat tight as well; the placement of the desk and chair at the end of the bed was awkward. Had to roll the chair out of the way to go around the bed. But the desk had plenty of plugins handy and internet was quite strong. Bed was a bit harder than I prefer. AC worked fine. Bathroom was small; generally by myself I never close the bathroom door but had to in order to get to the tub. Counter space was sufficient and water was hot instantly, even though I was on the 9th floor.
Only complaint I had was the shower curtain liner. Very nasty and I reported it to the desk clerk when I left, hopefully they advised housekeeping. It needed to be taken outside and burned it was so nasty.
I took a cab to and from Reagan to the hotel and it was incredibly fast. I left the hotel Saturday- walked out my room at 10:17. Walked the very long hallway to the elevators, down 9 floors, walked out and got a cab. I was at the Security entrance to my terminal down one level at Reagan at 10:43. Even though this hotel is a ways from the Capitol, the Rockcreek Parkway is super fast.

Room Tip: Central towers are most convenient and if more than one room, make sure they are in the same towers...

Stayed here 4 nights to move my daughter into AU--it is about a 5 minute drive away and reasonably easy to find. The hotel is huge and the common areas are quite nice. Grounds looked gorgeous but never really went outside. Pool was out of commission while I was there. Room was standard Marriott, altho the bathroom was smaller than typical. First night had very rowdy neighbors but quiet thereafter. My only real beef--the outrageous cost of parking! $46 for valet, $40 for self park. OUCH!

From our extra early arrival when our rooms happened to be available and we were able to check in to our need for directions and suggestions for dining being met with maps, suggestions and physically guiding us to the correct exit - our first day here set a very high bar for superb customer service. Each day continued to deliver employee after employee going out of their way to assist us - finding the package we were expecting, tracking down the AV equipment needed for a presentation, guiding us to meeting rooms ... Common areas are just lovely, the guest rooms nicely decorated and furnished. The internet is a bit slow and the hallways are kept a little cooler than I consider comfortable - but there are no other complaints feasible! And the metro station is literally at the end of the driveway! Several excellent restaurants are within a block. Walk a couple more and there's the whole Adams Morgan neighborhood full of restaurants, cafes, clubs. It's quick, easy and inexpensive to take the metro to the national mall and other common sightseeing destinations. A linear park in the neighborhood provides for walking or running in a park setting.

Room Tip: there is some construction going on in the tower - ask to have a room removed from that area

Green Features: Temperature in common areas is kept too cool - wasting A/C. Guest rooms have excellent temperature control.

I a attended a conference at the hotel. It is beautiful and the location is great. Metro is a short walk and fabulous ethnic restaurants within a walk. Very cold in hotel. You need a sweater! A lot of construction next door but will be nice when finished. Very friendly staff. I plan to rerun to DC with my family and will stay here!

First, this is a beautiful hotel, but large, and part of a chain. That said the service was generally good, but, from the concierge who could not be bothered to look up from his i-phone to answer my question, to the maid who continually let the door slam as she cleaned rooms on my floor - while no doubt more folks than myself might be sleeping a bit late, to the surprise charge on my credit card and then the over twenty minute wait on the phone to speak with someone about it, has tainted my visit a bit. Who knows maybe I was just unlucky as others seem to have had no problem. The hotel is convenient to Metro but a bit of a walk to Dupont Circle and other neighborhoods that have a wider range of restaurants and nightlife. Room was clean, and service in the grill fast when it needed to be.

Room Tip: I would go on the upper floors if possible.

Green Features: They did advertise water saving practices with regard to towels and laundry. Did not see any other signs of environmentally-friendly practices.

Stayed for 2 nights while on a short tourist visit to DC. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL. The room was clean and comfortable. The best part of the hotel is the location right next to a train station couldn't get any more perfect. Walked out of the hotel went to McDonald's for breakfast and than right to the train station, a great start to a great day. Only down side there was only 1 restaurant open for dinner so limited options but we made the best of it and had a nice dinner. Would definitely stay here again!

This was my third time at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. I have had to come here for a conference every year around March-April. The exterior of this historic hotel is very beautiful and well maintained. The hotel is conveniently located close to a lot of restaurants as well as a CVS Pharmacy. I last stayed here in March and had a room in the Center Tower. It was clean but a bit small and free wifi was only available in the lobby. Every time I have stayed here, staff has always provided a great service. I will most likely be back next year.
