Massive hotel with very impressive conference facilities and facilities for business travellers. A bit imposing though for your tourist traveller.

Rooms not as impressive as the exterior suggests and the only hotel we stayed in on our tour of the Northeast that wanted payment for wi-fi. It has all you might need for a short stay, clean comfortable room etc. but there was no character. Was like staying in a grandiose Premier Inn.

A little bit out of the way of the main events in Washington but the Metro is superb in DC and it was only 15 mins to Capitol Hill. Some really nice restaurants on Connecticut Ave and the Zoo is close by.

Dear Lamthedog,

Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your most recent stay at the Washington, DC Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Our goal at Wardman Park is to exceed all of our customer's expectations and in some areas I am sorry that your stay was less than perfect and the property fell short of your expectations. Just spent 6 nights at the Wardman. I believe it's the largest hotel in D.C. Lots of conventions/people. We stayed in the newly renovated Tower section of the Wardman. Very tastefully done, clean, quiet, and would definitely stay there rather than the convention side of the hotel. Staff was incredibly friendly, warm and helpful....rare in D.C. For the health conscious, great gym, Perfectly located for walking, zoo, metro, and many restaurants around the corner. Transportation called Circulation1 ws really cheap: $.50/seniors, and $1.00/pp for others, vs. metro$$$. Also right around the corner. Check it out next time your in town.

The hotel was a typical Marriott resort with very good public space, excellent restaurant and a helpful staff.
The location was excellent for utilizing public transportation and located well for walking to several popular spots.
My only complaint is the size of the rooms compared to the cost. The rooms and the bathrooms are small.

We stayed there several nights for a large conference. The rooms were clean and the staff went out of their way to be available and helpful. It is somewhat confusing to navigate around during the conference because of the size of the facility but there was always someone nearby to ask questions. Right next door to the Metro (make sure you buy the Smart trip card for the Metro, it will save you time and money). Several great restaurants. are just down the hill from the hotel too.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the conference rooms and the front of the hotel. We were directly above the ent...

I stayed here for 2 nights in April. Hotel was clean, but rooms were a little dated in my opinion. I was upgraded to a suite and it was very spacious and amenities were nice (dining room table, bar, living area, separate bedroom, etc). The windows in my room were fogged and the view was of the roof.

The Marriott Wardman is just a few blocks down the street from the National Zoo, and right next to a Metro station. Lobby and conference areas are large and well appointed. Staff were on hand during changes from a general session to break-outs to direct people to the various levels where training sessions were held-- a nice touch. The hotel sprawls over several buildings connected by enclosed walkways, so as a friend said, he had to go up to the ninth floor to get to the lobby area. So if with other companions, make sure and ask to be in the same tower at least. Room I had was in the Central Towers, a big 10 story complex that had 3 different hallways to rooms. Room was updated though you could tell it was an older hotel. Room was somewhat tight as well; the placement of the desk and chair at the end of the bed was awkward. Had to roll the chair out of the way to go around the bed. But the desk had plenty of plugins handy and internet was quite strong. Bed was a bit harder than I prefer. AC worked fine. Bathroom was small; generally by myself I never close the bathroom door but had to in order to get to the tub. Counter space was sufficient and water was hot instantly, even though I was on the 9th floor.
Only complaint I had was the shower curtain liner. Very nasty and I reported it to the desk clerk when I left, hopefully they advised housekeeping. It needed to be taken outside and burned it was so nasty.
I took a cab to and from Reagan to the hotel and it was incredibly fast. I left the hotel Saturday- walked out my room at 10:17. Walked the very long hallway to the elevators, down 9 floors, walked out and got a cab. I was at the Security entrance to my terminal down one level at Reagan at 10:43. Even though this hotel is a ways from the Capitol, the Rockcreek Parkway is super fast.

Room Tip: Central towers are most convenient and if more than one room, make sure they are in the same towers...

Stayed here 4 nights to move my daughter into AU--it is about a 5 minute drive away and reasonably easy to find. The hotel is huge and the common areas are quite nice. Grounds looked gorgeous but never really went outside. Pool was out of commission while I was there. Room was standard Marriott, altho the bathroom was smaller than typical. First night had very rowdy neighbors but quiet thereafter. My only real beef--the outrageous cost of parking! $46 for valet, $40 for self park. OUCH!
