“Lots of fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

We took an evening three hour dinner cruise tonight - July 19th. Great fun. The staff were very attentive. Lots of choice with the food. They had the buffet laid out differently which allowed them to get the passengers fed relatively quickly.

A nice touch was the complimentary champagne upon boarding.

We enjoyed the DJ and the music selection.

Three drinks cost $22.00.

The only thing lacking was some information on the sights as we toured the Potomac. That might have been a nice touch for tourists like us.

Easy access to the port via the subway.

All in all we enjoyed this excursion.

The Spirit Cruise was a fun idea for going out with a few friends, but it was ultimately disappointing. We sat at our table listening to bad DJ music and realized we were already bored...and the boat hadn't even left the dock yet. It was conveniently located, but was gimmicky. Excellent views of the Potomac and monuments, but sub-par food. Not only that, but when we were delivered our dessert there were only two items on the "dessert trio." We asked and were told that they had run out of the chocolate cake -- but we later learned that they were passing out huge pieces of the cake an hour later on the top deck. It was too loud in the main dining room to talk comfortably, and there were spiders and spiderwebs all over the boat. I wouldn't really recommend this for the price I paid, and I paid $52 on Groupon, not the $86 regular price.

“July 4th Disappointment”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

Booked the Spirit of Washington for July 4, 2014. We arrived at the dock at the requisite time and waited in line for 45+ minutes to board. They have a couple of photographers that take your photo and offer to sell to you on board (the photo actually turned out great and we bought one). Once on-board, the chaos began. We were led to our private window table and were told our server would be with us shortly. Thirty minutes later...still no server. Glad we joined the crowd and got our food from the buffet. It didn't take long to figure out we would need to get our own drinks as well. Waited 10-15 minutes to get drinks from the open bar. We paid for the upgraded table and our neighbor's table was less than two feet away. Maybe a little further from the table in front and behind us. Tables were really cramped and did not feel we got our monies worth for the upgraded table. Food quality was okay and readily available; drinks were nearly impossible to get; especially if you relied on the server to bring them to you. Great DJ and seemed to get the crowd motivated to dance. Overall, an okay time; but for the quality and service, not worth the price we paid.

“Spirited Spirit Washington D.C.Cruise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

The Spirit cruise was a fun time with a wonderful staff and fun DJ. When you arrive at the cruise there is parking along the street and also parking in a small lot adjacent to the marina. We however used the Metro as we were staying in Old Town Alexandria several but quick stops away. (allow about 30-40 min.) if traveling by Metro from Old Town. We had plenty of time as we left early. There is outdoor seating under a covered area while waiting for the cruise. It boards a half hour before departure. A photo is taken of each group or couple before boarding that can be purchased after the cruise. Twenty five dollars gets you 2 5X7 pictures of you and a photo of the ship on the reverse side. More pictures are available as well in smaller sizes. We did not choose that option. I believe it was around 40 plus dollars for all of the pics.
You will be offered complimentary champagne upon boarding. Prior to your cruise when making your reservation you can request being seated separately as they seat you with others as they do on large cruise ships. We had requested this as we were celebrating my husband's birthday. We had window seats and were sat at a table for 4. The other 2 places remained empty. A table however is next to it and another couple was seated at the far end of that table. This was no big deal and we expected this as they do try to accommodate a large group. The staff was amazing and on top of things. As we boarded the boat we were able to begin lining up at the buffet. The buffet had a nice variety of fish, chicken, potatoes, vegetables and rolls. The food was good. The chicken was tender & salmon was done perfectly. While some reviewers complain about the food I find that going on this type of adventure is about the entire experience. The cruise is not inexpensive but I truly feel that we received a lot for our money.
The weather was perfect while we cruised. It was a sunny 80 plus degree day with no humidity so that added to the enjoyment. After dinner we spent the rest of the evening on the top deck enjoying the breeze off the water and the sites along the shoreline. You can see the Washington Monument in the distance but don't expect to see monuments up close. We know the area pretty well, so we knew for the most part what we were seeing and which town it was in. From the Naval base to Reagan National Airport, to the National Harbor and the Gaylord Hotel, homes along the waterfront in Old Town etc. The sun setting was the icing on the cake. Speaking of which they had desserts as well. The only thing I had was chocolate cheesecake which was delicious. The spirited part of the cruise was the DJ. he was a lot of fun and as we were exiting the cruise people were still dancing. It's a lovely 2 hour cruise that I would recommend for a special occasion or date night. Please adhere to the dress code. A guy proposed to his girlfriend while there and he was the most improperly dressed one on board. He was wearing shorts and sneakers. I believe he did have a collared golf shirt on which is o.k. but he was proposing! She was in a dress and heels. Shorts and sneakers are ok if it's a daytime cruise but there is more of a dress code for the evening dinner cruises. If you aren't going to dress up for something like that when are you going to dress up! So put on something nice and have fun! It's well worth the memories!

“Good views, okay food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Went there for a birthday celebration. Food was sub par. I feel for the price paid it should have been a more fine dining experience. Even if it was a buffet the choices were very limited. The food was not great either. However, the views and the boat ride are fantastic. If you are looking for a fine dining experience with a view this not the place to go.
