The location is very good for most things. We were on the street side and it was very noisy all night long with sirens and some one yelling (both nights). We were warned that on Saturday morning, a crane would be constructed outside the hotel lobby. It was beyond their control, an adjacent building was having some work done. Although they were not suppose to start before 7:00 am, it was more like 6:30 when all the activity started. The room was on the small side and we did have to wait to check in even though we arrived around 3:30 (checkin is 3:00). I probably would stay there again, but would only stay if I could get a room on the other side - not on the street side. Also - valet parking very expensive. There is a parking garage across the street. We should have parked there ourselves.

Room Tip: Only stay if you can stay on side away from front of hotel. See if you can park your own car across the street for less than the $39/night valet parking + $6.39 garage tax.

Staff was professional and warm from the minute you entered the hotel to the day you checked out. Restaurant food was wonderful both for dinner and bountiful breakfast! Indoor pool a plus for our grandson.

I have stayed here before, had another great stay and would stay again.

Wonderful location. McPherson Sq metro is just across the street. So if flying in/out of Reagan Airport, so easy to get to/from airport to this hotel on blue line. Red Line Metro Center is also just a few block away. Can walk to Mall, anywhere downtown and even to dupont or logan if you're up for a longer walk.

Hotel is great. Nice lobby, with small restaurant and bar. Staff is great, greeted me by name most times I walked in front door. Room is great too, typical Hilton Garden room, which is a great room. Good HDTV and bathroom was very nice and clean too.

I will continue to come back to this Hotel when visiting DC and highly recommend it.

I recently travelled to DC for 3 nights from the UK with my wife and two children (13 & 9). The location is just brilliant, so convenient for all the attractions that you would want to see in Washington. The White House and the National Mall are all within Walking distance and should you wish to go further afield there is a Metro stop (Macpherson Square) right across the street. The staff at the hotel were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The Breakfast was very good and there was a decent enough choice - as a Hilton Honours member the breakfast was complimentary and we made sure we filled up every day!! On the negative side the room decor was very tired and could do with upgrading , it was incredibly noisy and the room was small. The beds were OK but on the firm side and we had to ask for a rollaway for my wife who can't sleep on a too firm mattress - we were charged $15.00 a night for the privilege!! The room did however, have a fridge and microwave which came in handy. The pool was shut for maintenance and this was extremely disappointing as we had chosen this hotel specifically for the pool. In the lobby there was free coffee in the morning and freshly baked cookies in the afternoon, which was a nice touch. Nearby the burger place Five Guys and Noodle bar across the street by the Metro are worth a try but our favourite place to eat was Hill Country BBQ Market on 7th Street in the Penn Quarter.

This was our second stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, and it remains a nice, comfortable property in a very convenient location in DC. Checkin was fast and efficient and service by all the staff was friendly. As others have mentioned, rooms are standard size and comfortable and have all the amenities you would expect from a Garden Inn.

On the negative side, yes there is some street noise that comes through these windows, even if you are on a high floor. It's a busy road with lots of traffic and activity. Also, the breakfast buffet, while nice, does not have the standard layout for a Hilton Garden Inn. The flow simply does not work, and on a busy weekend there was a very long line for the cook to order station. Compound this with a poor layout of items, and it just breaks down as people struggle to find what they need. They might do better to standardize this dining room like the other hilton garden inn's. The waitstaff at the breakfast buffet was great, very friendly and attentive.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Room Tip: If you are noise sensitive, ask for a room that does not face the street.
