“Thanks John Rish /Hilton/THE WASHINGTON CAPITOLS!!!!”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

I am writing this as a new review of this same location. I had a previous visit which did not go so well . After posting the review Hilton did return my email about my issues and give me a certificate for a free night anywhere in the U.S.. I was surprised that it took five days for Trip Advisor to post the review and within minutes of it's publication at 7am on a Sunday John Rish, the General Manager, reached out to see how he could fix the less than stellar experience I had written about. He gave me a further night's stay in a king suite and two corporate tickets to see the Washington Capitols (that was the reason for previous visit but did not happen) and refunded my stay to my credit card. I was amazed and accepted his generous offer. When I got to the room I found wine and a cheese and fruit tray as well as chocolates on my pillow. He went one step further by putting a Washington Capitols #27 autographed cowbell in our room!!! I was amazed!!! My son was ecstatic!!! When we had a great night sleep there was tons of coffee and we took the Metro to the game. We got the tickets at will call and were amazed to see they were almost on the glass and cost $504!!!!!!! During the game John Rish and The Washington Capitols even arranged for Slapshot to bring my son a bag, shirt, autographed poster, and bobble head doll !!!!!!!!!!! We got our picture taken with him and enjoyed an action packed game with capitols winning 6 to 5 !!! John Rish truly made up for our issues and ended up giving my son his best day ever !!!!! It was his first NHL game!!! Thanks John Rish, Hilton, and THE WASHINGTON CAPITOLS!!!!

Room Tip: Take advantage of the free coffee!!!!!

This hotel was great. Stayed for a business trip in the area, and it was not only very reasonably priced, but had all I could want. Clean room, plenty of coffee/mini-fridge/toiletries, friendly and helpful staff--it was great! The metro is literally across the street and there are several breakfast options very close (in addition to the restaurant/room service which I didn't try, but seemed reasonably priced). All in all, it was everything I could have wanted and for the value, a great deal!

My family spent three days at the Hilton Garden Inn for pleasure and college visits. Could not have picked a better choice. Location is perfect--you do not need a car. Metro and walking can get you everywhere. The staff is amazing--so kind and helpful in everyway. Gennarmo in the restaurant will get you anything you need and always with a smile and humor. Breakfast is delicious, the rooms are clean and cozy, the lobby is friendly and inviting. Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: We stayed in a king suite on the eighth floor. No view but very quiet.

We stayed here for 6 nights in January and really enjoyed the time. We chose this hotel predominately for its location, and were not disappointed at all.
There is a Metro station right across the road which made it easy to get to Arlington National Cemetary, this hotel was walking distance to almost everything we wanted to get to. We hired a car to get out to the Udvar Hazy Center, and to get out to Gettysburg.
We arrived late at night after delayed flights etc from the East Coast, and were a little unimpressed with the initial greeting at reception. Although being efficient and getting checked in quite quickly, there just wasn't that 'welcome' feeling. Where the Reception staff failed in their hospitality; the Wait Staff in the Grist Mill were brilliant! They were warm, welcoming, extremely accommodating, nothing was an issue or too hard. They really made our stay at the hotel exceptional. We had breakfast included in our package and we chose to eat at the restaurant most nights, because the meals were great. A special mention to Darlene and Genaro who truly went out of their way for us, including when my sister arrived with her smaller kids and my mum. They made them feel so welcome.
The Room was a little smaller than we had been staying in, however, it was comfortable and warm. Having a microwave was brilliant and made it easier with little kids.
We truly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to friends without hesitation.

We stayed 4 nights here in January 2014 and it ticked all the boxes for what we wanted from our booking.
Location is great, literally across the road from a metro station that goes direct to the airport, Pentagon and Arlington and walking distance to all of the museums/White house/Mall/Monuments.
Friendly check in staff who received and stored packages for us in the week leading up to our arrival. A nice bar area downstairs with attached restaurant, which we didn't eat at, but the menu looked like it catered for many tastes.
We got a street-facing room but were up on floor 12 so we didn't notice too much noise at all, especially as we had the AC on warming the place up all day given how frigid the weather was outside.
Comfy bed, good selection of TV channels, nice desk/chair and another comfy chair. Safe in the room, wardrobe for hanging clothes. Bathroom was nice and clean, shower could have had a little more power but it served its purpose.
We got a great rate booking direct through Hilton. That, plus the location, made it a perfect choice for a weekend getaway. We'll definitely consider staying here again should we find ourselves back in DC.
There was also apparently a fitness room and pool downstairs - but we didn't make use of these facilities.

Great location directly across from the Metro--- easy transport to and from the airport and major attractions, some even walkable. Nice, comfortable room, good value and plenty of restaurants nearby. Neighborhood a bit shady at night, but isn't most of D.C. after dark? Recommend to others; would definitely stay again.

Stayed here last week for a night whilst visiting the local tourist sites. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean with some nice extras like a microwave in the room.
The hotel is well located and is easy to get to the usual tourist sites. All of the staff were very friendly and very helpful and the hotel has free wifi if you need to research any attractions etc.
The only negative in relation to our stay was the parking cost. At over 40USD a day its a little steep but you have little other choice so if youre driving make sure you factor this into you stay.
