Good choice of oysters and steaks. Excellent bar staff - they pour a mean dry gin martini ! wait staff are helpful and friendly. Good all round restaurant with tables facing the street to catch the ambience of 8th street. Worth a visit

“Gone Downhill Rapidly”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

First of all, let me start with the pro's: they still make the "Crush" drinks with fresh juice. Okay, so I can only think of one.

Cons: the 1 lb. chilled lobster that used to be 12.99 at happy hour and $16.99 at other times is now $27.00. Lobster has not doubled in price since the menu change over the last few months.

The air conditioning unit leaks above the bar, all over the patrons and chairs, making it impossible to actually sit at the bar unless you protected by one of the square over-hanging light fixtures. I was told by the bartender that this has been the case since Senart's opened; odd as this has been one of my favorite Barrack's Row spots since it's opening. I sat out the Derecho in that bar and nothing was leaking then. I suggested that the system obviously needs a good cleaning as it's not properly draining. Would you like a side of Legionnaire's Disease with dinner?

The Oysters Rockefeller were once sublime. Now they are excessively bogged down with gruyere cheese reminiscent of potato skins. Yuck. The chilled shrimp were good, but again, the price has gone way up and the draw for me was the raw bar.

The staff was polite, but absentee for the most part.

Since the change of ownership, this place has nose-dived. The owners need to seriously fix the A/C. It's a health hazard. I'm not sure why we stayed.

“Wonderful Historic Bar/Restaurant”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Atmosphere is great! Old black and white photos line the wall and it's a great place to get lost in the history of DC. Sat at the bar both times we went. Friendly & attentive bartenders made our visit delightful. Go at Happy Hour for $1 oysters, fresh Maryland oysters taste delicious. Can sit at a table or watch sports on their large TV's. Can't wait to visit on my next trip to DC

“Great meal!!! ”
Reviewed 7 April 2014 via mobile

Made a reservation at Senart's for my son and I based on TripAdvisor reviews. Started out with a 1/2 dozen of some Chesapeake oysters. Absolutely fantastic. For the main course he had a roast chicken and I had a steak. Both were great but we both agreed the chicken was out of this world. Service was spot on..

“Cozy Bar Great Raw Bar”
Reviewed 2 February 2014 via mobile

This place has great atmosphere and reliably fresh oysters. They also have happy hour prices which is terrific since oysters get pricey after a few dozen. The other two dishes we ordered (Caesar salad and French Dip sandwich) were decent but nothing special.
