“If you have the money it´s worth it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

First of all i´d like to say that this is normally not the kind of hotels we are staying in, but due to a last minute booking the ritz carlton was nearly as cheap as other hotels were so we dicided to enjoy some luxury.
We arrived by car from NY (took us due to traffic about 6 hrs) and were happy when we finally arrived. We didn´t expect such a warm welcome. There were about 4 employees just taking care of our car and luggage. Of course everyone wanted tip, but it was nice anyway. We took valet parking as it was included in our package (first family package). The receptionist was extremly friendly, showed us on a map where everything was located and guided us to the elevator where he wished us a nice stay and sent us to our room. Exiting the elevator i suspected the worst as hearing children crying around in nearly every room. So all family first bookers are in one floor obviously. Normally we should not complain as we booked it too, but our child, me, was 17. But we were lucky, directly next to us was an empty room so we weren´t hit that hard by all the kids playing around in their rooms.
Arrived in our room we were suprised of the big bathroom with shower and bath tub seperated. Nice! Also the room was quite spacy with a big flat screen TV. Internet was complementary in our package and worked well. Allthough it appeard on our bill. Short talk an it was removed from it.
Cleaning was ok exept for one day. We came back at 3:30 pm and room was still not cleaned. Complementary breakfast was great. But we made the mistake and rushed to the nice looking buffet at our first morning.... bad decission as the waiter brought a 105$ bill. Nice one! We even asked a waiter if this would be the breakfast included for our room and he just sat us to a table, for us the sign to use the buffet.
Valet parking in this hotel was an interesting experience... When we asked for our car to make a little tour we waited for 15 minutes. Even other clients, who came after us, got their cars. The boss of the valet parking system noticed us waiting for 15 minutes and asked us what was wrong. After that, two wrong cars were brought, when finally (after searching the key by us(!)) we got it.
Checkout was short and simple, getting the car this morning was not a problem at all.

After all i can say, that if you have the money to afford all the stuff (you have to pay for nearly everything) it is worth it as it´s real luxury. If you are saving money for your trip just to get in the hotel you will be disappointed. Also as you are simply not belonging to the other guests. You just get the feeling of beeing treated differently, especially by other guests who think are something special when sleeping in the ritz.

Room Tip: Be careful not to be placed on the family floor.

I have stayed at the Ritz in DC for the last three years for a conference I attend each spring. I swear, each year is better than the next! The concierge, front desk and all employees learn your name within moments of your check in, and it feels more like you are staying at a friend's home than a large hotel chain!

Our room (Standard, king bed, 5th floor) was perfect! Spotless, incredibly clean bathroom, amazingly luxurious bed linens and robes, and well stocked with (free) bottled water!

When we needed a cab, there was one within moments, suggestions for lunch? reservations were made immediately. Room service breakfast? DELICIOUS and there exactly on time!

I do not have anything but great things to say about this hotel. The location is fabulous, the staff is amazing, the food is wonderful, all in all - it is worth every penny!

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor and never had any problems with noise. I would imagine that some of the ro...

I recently spent five nights at this hotel and found it difficult to fault, except of course for having to pay for wifi. That said, it was just about the fastest wifi I have ever experienced in a hotel. Service levels are very high, the gym/sports club is extraordinary, the location is very convenient and the rooms large and well appointed. My only two shortcomings are the unattended annoying business centre and the habit of the aircon to turn on and off disturbing your sleep. I ended up just turning it off for the night. Would happily stay again.

Recent five day trip characterized by outstanding service. Concierge was extremely helpful with great suggestions for restaurants needed at the last minute (and open until 11:30 pm). Wonderful location, very clean rooms/lobby/hallways. Quiet at night. Rooms were very pleasant and comfortable. Cleaning staff addressed us by name. One of the most amazing workout facilities I have seen in any hotel as part of the adjoining health club. Complete selection of cardio, weights, etc housed in a two story facility. The staff went out of their way to address our needs. Outstanding room service for breakfast--egg white omelet with vegetables. Pure heaven

The service culture at this property is very good. The staff was very eager to help as to whatever the need was. There were some structural things that sometimes prevented the staff to work to their upmost however in the end, any problem was resolved as quickly as possible.

The Business center is basically coin-operated which made anything slighly more advanced a chore to complete.

It is too bad that there is no swimming for anyone under 18 in the pools as well.

I stayed in February at the Ritz DC for a week on a business trip, the room was very clean. Front desk staff were very helpful. Food was great. Hotel location is so convenient. However there is no free Wi-Fi and there is an extra fee for using the business center. I recommend it for business trips.

Stayed here in February when I came along with my husband on a business trip. We were on the 8th floor. Rooms not huge, but very clean and the bed was wonderful.

Easy walk to Georgetown and a good amble to the Mall and all the top museums. Front desk gave me a map and highlighted all that I should try to see in my couple days there. Was during some sort of superpac type convention, so tight security in and around the hotel.

Nice bar, and they had a fabulous candy buffet in the lobby because of Valentine's Day. Thought that was a cute touch. Very expensive, but very good breakfasts.
