The designers put a lot of thought into lighting this memorial at night. The MLK statue itself shines, but so do all of MLK's quotes and the surrounding grounds, plus you get a great view across the basin to the Jefferson Memorial.

I've live in D.C for many years and not really into the museums any more ONLY when family comes in town. This is a MUST visit memorial.

This was my 4th visit to the MLK Memorial and I’m in awe every time. Truly a breathtaking piece of art that reminds us all of our history.

Another magnificent memorial so interesting how it appears that He’s coming thru the stone “Stone of Hope”. You can see the Jefferson memorial from this site as well. Take time to read the inscriptions but highly recommend a guided tour

This is definitely a monument to see when you’re in DC! You can’t see this monument from a tour bus or a car, you have to actually get off of the bus or out of your car to walk a little bit and see the monument. This monument is really close to the FDR memorial, so if you’re in the area you should consider walking to that one as well! You may want a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a bottle of water.
