Travelling with my wife and we arrive in DC and we simply stumble across this place during a short stroll! Not too far from Du Pont Circle, the Couscous Cafe seemed at first glance like a quick, easy "cheap eats" place. However, once inside, nothing could be further from the truth. This place is, quite simply, one of the best vegetarian restaurants I have ever eaten at!
The chef delivers reasonably priced food that is divine. We started with entree's (the Yanks call them "appetisers") and finished with desert. We went back twice more before we left DC. Yes, it was that good! The waiting staff are friendly and the service is great. Management also like to chat and we got the feeling it's genuine, not just an act for "tips" (which we Aussies find pretty strange anyway).
Relaxed and casual, it was perfect for the traveller looking for a place to "veg out" before getting back on the road and trying to cope with the usual American cuisine. If ever in DC, we would stay near Du Pont Circle just so we can call this place our "local".
