Ok so its a Sofitel but I found it a bit pretentious to be greeted everywhere in French. Notwithstanding, the service was exemplary, reception efficient and the Concierge service first class.
Room was comfortable but the shower promised more than it delivered. Bed was comfortable and the standard of cleaning was good.
Location is the key with this hotel. Metro, White House, shopping, museums are all either on the doorstep or close by with plenty of good restaurants to choose from. As you would expect, it is not cheap but you get what you pay for.

This was our first stay at a Sofitel hotel. The location and service were terrific. The restaurant was very good, and our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The only reason I did not rate the Sofitel 5 stars was due to the dimly lit lobby and public areas--rather depressing, after visiting other hotels with light-filled lobbies. Some of the public areas for relaxing and reading had such low lighting that it was a strain to read the books and magazines. The Sofitel's attributes outweigh this relatively minor criticism, but it was enough to dissuade me from staying here again. That being said, it is clearly a very popular hotel, and was crowded the entire time.

The hotel is in a great location for just about everything. It is literally across the street from the McPherson subway stop which makes it really convenient. The front door staff and front desk staff are really nice and polite. The lobby and bar are lovely. I paid for a larger, Luxury King room and unfortunately it wasn't large or truly luxury. The rooms need to be updated, particularly the beds. They mattresses are very old and worn. There is a mattress pad that trys to help but it doesn't. Very hard and uncomfortable. The room faced 15th street and was very quiet. Bathroom was nice with separate shower. Tile needs to be scrubbed.
Room service (breakfast) was very quick and delicious. Coffee in a french press was really good. $35 for bacon and eggs.

Room Tip: high floor - ask for a large room

This is a beautiful hotel , located within walking distance of museums and restaurants. Fact is we spent the weekend and never moved the car. The room were grand , I liked the layout of the bathrooms so much that I designed my current master bathroom the same way. The staff was friendly and helpful. The concierge even called ahead to the restaurant to tell them I was coming and it was my birthday.

This is a first class hotel with a first class staff.
