From beginning to end this hotel delivered on service and comfort.
Doormen, reception, concierge services - outstanding!!! Staff genuinely interested in ensuring a pleasant, comfortable and memorable experience in their establishment and their city.

Location: on the White House doorstep almost. Brilliant. Also close to a couple of excellent restaurants.

Room terrific. Good bathroom and wifi.

Highly recommended. Well done Sofitel DC!!

Room Tip: Hotel has internal rooms (no windows) so make sure you ask for windows. Concierges have great knowl...

The staff at the Sofitel is genuine - they want their guests to have a good experience. It is noticeable from the minute you enter the property and at check in. But there are small problems that shouldnt happen at this hotel which are comprable to the best DC hotels.
My room had a single bath towel - and there was no turn down service so it wasnt replaced. Of course they will bring you more if you call but they should be there. The toilet ran water all night and the air conditionaer although ws "on" was not cooling.
I sent my shoes for a shine - I clearly marked the shoes for morning dleivery and called to confirm. 30 minutes past the time request - no shoes. There was a scramble and they found the shoes and deliverd them unshined.
Breakfast was ordered and the wrong order arrived - it was fixed immediatley but still - in the morning trying to rush out to a meeting, I really dont want to be tracking down shoes and waiting for the correct breakfast order to arrive. By the way - this is the second time this has happened here to me.
The bedding is comfortable but it would have been better if there was trun down service with a fresh towel and water delivered.
I'll probably stay here again but will be on the phone more often and ask instead of waiting. Thankfully, even with a few issues, the staff is friendly and courteous.

Room Tip: the inner rooms are quieter but no view at all.

Thank you for your loyalty to Accor and to Sofitel. We appreciate you choosing us. I am disappointed to learn you had a less than satisfactory stay with us, and experienced anything less than the luxury service we are so well known for. We are looking into the matters regarding your in-room dining service as well as your requested shoe shine which I can assure you were atypical of the Sofitel experience. We are always happy to provide additional sets of towels upon request. On your next visit, I invite you to contact me directly when making your booking to ensure that your preferences are noted and to ensure a Magnifique stay with us.

Truly,
Anna

I have stayed in other Sofitel properties, by far this is the most disappointing experience. It just does not measure up to the Sofitel brand. Perhaps its more like the case of: if you are used to the class and sophistication of hotels in the Arabian Gulf, nothing else will measure up. We booked a Superior king bed room, average is what they should have called it.

I read reviews, most seem positive so I had a level of expectation that was just not met. Staff were friendly and courteous. The hotel itself feels old and tired. Our room looked worn – from the carpets to the curtains. It was screaming for a refurbishment. We also had a view of other windows and a garbage pile. Having just arrived from a 13-hour flight, we decided to stay here and just not bother complaining about a better room. Judging from the appearance of the hallway, all rooms were probably the same. Only thing positive about the rooms were the bathrooms. These felt chic enough.
Gym was good. This space felt modern compared to the rest of the hotel.

On the second day, a man who came to replenish the minibar opened the door and came in while my husband and I were inside. Whatever happened to KNOCKING??? And CHECKING IF THE GUESTS WERE INSIDE?? He apologized obviously, but I made sure the room was locked when we were in.

Location, great. The White House, was a couple blocks away and within a very few minutes walking distance from all main sights, including Washington monument, The Capitol, the Smithsonian museums, WW2 Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, etc.

Would I stay here again? No. Its pricey for no reason.

Room Tip: Not the superior rooms, they aren't "superior".

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Our General Manager, Jean-Christophe Gras is aware of your experience, and as a seasoned Sofitel guest, your opinion is important to us. I am pleased to know that you recognized our personalized service and enjoyed our central location. I always recommend that if you are not 100% satisfied with your accommodations to please let us know. We can most certainly do our best to make you more comfortable if we are aware of your preferences. I would recommend when you return, to book a luxury king room versus a superior king, as it seems you would prefer a city view, for which the luxury king rooms are known. We hope to welcome you back again soon and I am confident you will enjoy a true Sofitel experience.

Truly,
Anna

Spent one night here this past weekend while attending a wedding. The second time we've stayed at this Sofitel since January 2014. We had a corner room. The staff could not be nicer and more friendly, from the front door to the front desk. Housekeeping is quick and efficient to deliver any requests. Rooms are spotless, showing little to no wear and tear. The bathrooms are large and feature separate showers and tubs. Comfy beds, quiet and serene setting. I've stayed at many DC hotels and this is by far one of the very best.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room. They tend to be a bit larger, as overall room sizes here are small.

This is a good hotel, in an excellent location with very helpful and friendly staff. I particularly liked the bar, which has a great atmosphere, good view to the street and good food and service. Every morning tea and coffee is available in the bar and it is a pleasant way to start the day. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Room service was excellent. The gym is large and well equipped and open 24 hours. I really enjoyed my stay.

There is no spa, although they do offer in room massages.

Great location around the corner for the White House, and within a very few minutes walking distance from all main sights, including all the museums, Lincoln memorial, Capitol Hill and other memorials. Service was excellent. Once our beers were delayed as they had a technical problem with that draught, and they just served us a very nice fries starter unsolicited. Overall excellent food for all meals.
