“Fantastic place and even better hosts!”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

Spacious, perfectly decorated rooms. Very tasteful! David and George the hosts have done everything to make my stay an unforgettable experience. Superb breakfast - 5 stars! The location is quite residential but the nearest tube station is in walking distance or the hosts would be more than happy to drive me around. I extended my stay TWICE - I suppose that says it all.

Talofa JanteBerlin!

We had a wonderful time during your stay and we both learned a lot of new things about your industry. We are always telling our new guests about your projects. We enjoyed all the great stories. We wish we had more time to pick your brains for more. LOL But its all good. We can save those stories to when we visit your great land. LOL

Take Care!

LOL! Yes, we enjoyed the laughs and great stories that all shared. It is always a wonderful time to see our guests laugh, smile and enjoy themselves. Well, I just spoke to Chef and he is willing to take a trip "Abroad" and cook you breakfast in morning. : )

LOL! Take care and hope to see you all soon.

My second stay. David and Chef George made it a comfortable 3 days - delicious breakfasts, good directions & use of a Metro pass, friendly conversations with other guests & them. I recommend making them your Washington home base.

Room Tip: All rooms are spacious and comfortable - choice is shared or private bath.

Dave and Jorge were the best hosts we ever met. Fun, friendly, helpful, unique. The food was very good, the bedroom (as well as the rest of the house) was spacy, comfortable, clean and nice. We will definitely stay there again!

We spent 3 days at Malolo and our 7-yr old daughter listed it as her favourite part of Washington DC. Dave and Chef Jorge were super fun and personable. The king bed with shared bathroom was very spacious for the 3 of us. Every little detail was taken care of: complimentary chocolates/mineral water, fresh towels everyday, comfortable bedding, supportive pillows, thick bathrobes, shampoo, TV with netflix, coat hooks and even a little wooden catch-all tray for my keys & earrings. The decor is relaxing & spa-like. Not to mention the personal service. We got ferried to and from the Metro station. Otherwise it would have been a bit far to walk, especially with a kid in-tow. And the Breakfast ... the Spread was amazing. We have a Chef who made our eggs to order. 5-stars and more ! Thanks for the wonderful stay! xxx Sching, Cheeyuen & Kay (Toronto)

Room Tip: Only one King room has an en-suite bathroom.

Wow! What a wonderful treat for us to meet little "Special Kay". Kay is still our most talked about "French" speaking guest. We enjoyed dressing her up as our Future Samoan Guest Greeter. So if she is still looking for a job in 5 years. We will always have a vacancy for a French Translator. LOL.

We enjoy telling guests about the "Red Bulb" and we are very honor to have you all stay with us. We hope our paths will cross in the near future.

Whilst travelling from New York to Washington DC (via Philadelphia), we were forced to navigate our way through the most violent storm I've ever seen first hand - buffeted by fork lightening, torrential rain, and deafening, apocalyptic thunder - we pushed on to our destination: the Malolo Bed and Breakfast.

As we arrived, the rain, as if on queue, subsided, the blackened sky followed suit - opening like a curtain on the star studded stage above. It felt like a good omen. We were greeted as we disembarked from the car like old friends arriving for a long awaited reunion by David and George. Our heavy suitcases vanished from around us, as if props in a David Copperfield disappearing act, and reappeared inside the beautiful house that was to be our home for the next two days. We too were gently ushered in to a dining room and were quickly introduced our fellow residents, who we felt that we'd known all our lives, such was the comfortable feel of the hospitality on offer.

Course after course of wonderful food and relaxed conversation was to follow for the next two hours. Eventually, we finished eating all of the delicious food and were shown to our truly outstanding room. The star of the room was the very large, comfortable but stylish bed, sitting amidst a tasteful and well thought out suite - our suitcases were there waiting for us in the dressing area. The bathroom was pristine and spacious. Although, there didn't appear to be any air conditioning in the room, there was a large and extremely quiet ceiling fan which was easily sufficient, even in the very warm conditions of July. We had both had a very busy and stressful day but sleep came as soon as heads met pillows and a very comfortable night's sleep it was too.

Breakfast was laid out when we ventured downstairs, even though we were making an early start. With the glory of the previous evening's meal still in our minds, we didn't expect anything more than a bowl of cereal and a piece of toast. How wrong we were. Chef George had laid out a banquet of fruits, cereals, breads, hot and cold dishes, omelettes (made to order), with a selection of teas and coffee. In addition to the food on offer, we were issued with travel cards and instructed in their use, given a mobile phone to use to call for transportation from the Metro Subway Station, and shown all the interesting locations to visit on a map. The icing on the cake (for my wife at least) was the puppy she was given to hold for the journey from the Metro back to the B&B (I'm not sure this will be available to everyone but you could always ask).

Upon leaving, we were dressed up in fancy-dress and had photos taken with George and David (as is their tradition) and we set off on the road with enormous smiles on our faces.

The Malolo Bed and Breakfast sparkles like a many-faceted diamond and our only regret is that we couldn't have basked in its glory for longer.

Talofa MrDrShort!

Thank you for the wonderful review and we can still recall the night you drove in during that storm. As our other guests, knew of your arrivals. We were all concerned about your safety. Of course, everything turned out okay and you both arrived in time for a wonderful sit down dinner with new friends.

As for the little puppy that you had the pleasure of meeting / holding one evening is not so little any more. LOL. TEvery time Chef sees the little guy he smiles and recalls the precious moments that "little guy" enjoyed from the Metro.

We are glad you enjoyed our farewell tradition and look forward to seeing your all soon.

Please take care until we meet again.
