Staff were very accomodating since we arrived a little before our reservation and still accomodated us. We were starving. The wait staff was attentive and the food quite good. I was daring and had the meatloaf. Our waitress recommened it when I asked. I was not disappointed at all.

Great bar for grownups, excellent service, superb food with an old DC sophisticated ambiance.

Prime place to bring a client.

Best part?

Located across the street from a superlative cigar lounge.

Perfect.

The waiter told me the crab cakes were the specialty on their menus so I tried them. I ordered 1 cake ($21) - it was very small, no large lumps of crab, overly salted and served with just a mountain of fries. Skip the crab cakes. My husband's french dip was sparse on the beef so he took the meat from one half and transferred it to the other half to make an OK but not overly generous serving. We were never asked if we were happy with the dishes. It is historic and lovely but come for oyster happy hour and sit at the bar. Skip the food - If you want a good crab cake Legal Seafood if far superior.

Beautiful old building. love the worn stairs. Rarely go because it's always packed, except late at night for that last drink. If you're a tourist, this is a DC thing to do at least once. Their food is good.

Always enjoy dining on Old Ebbit. Expect a 20-30 min wait for dining, but is worth the wait. Our attendant was very friendly and although we were a big group, took great care of us.
