Description: Located in the heart of Georgetown, il Canale offers the most authentic Neapolitan pizza in DC, thin-crust made by our Italian pizzaiolos cooked in a wood-fired oven imported directly from Italy. The kitchen offers a menu that brings our native country to your table with every selection-antipasti, pastas, seafood, meat, fresh Bufala mozzarella from Italy, and so much more. The attractive blue-lit, full bar specializes in carefully selected Italian wines. In warm weather, dine alfresco at the sidewalk tables or on the roof-top terrazza overlooking the Georgetown scene. Be sure to check out our lunch menu, featuring three delicious new paninis made with our fresh bread baked instantly in our wood fire brick oven and four new pasta items. Our happy hour, from 4-6 pm Monday-Friday, features not only reduced wine, beer, and Italian aperitivi, but also amazing homemade items for extremely reasonable prices! (Happy Hour restricted to bar area). Wheelchair accessible. GlutenFree options are available

Everything was good, starting from the greetings for the employee that sits you, to the waitresses recommendations and the people that brought us the food. Polite and nice people, good food and not expensive. The entree was good as well as the pizza and pasta. Surprised that no bread was served prior us ordering as other restaurants will do.
Overall it was a good choice!

We ate here because it was convenient to our hotel. The service was awful. We finally got bread, but no butter or olive oil to dip it in - and no plates to put our bread on. Literally plain bread. Our server ignored us for the first 10 minutes, and then it went downhill from there. The food was adequate, but the chicken in the chicken parm was tough.

I would never consider eating here again.

For such a crowded and big restaurant, it produces quality Italian food. Services could be better but adequate.

My family and I were visiting Washington for 5 days and on our last night went to Georgetown for dinner. We happened upon Il Canale and it turned out to be our best meal the entire week! As soon as I saw the REAL Neopolitan pizza oven I knew it was going to be great. The foccacia was exactly how they make it in Sorrento (at one of my favorite restaurants), the pizza with arrugula and prociutto was amazing. The crust is perfect. I had the Tagliata - thinly sliced steak - excellent!
Our waiter - who was native Italian from Bergamo - could not have been nicer. We all loved it so much we can't wait to go back on our next visit to DC!

On a trip to Washington, DC during the spring break and after visiting some of the tourist attractions we looked for a place to eat. Searching the internet and reading the reviews on different places, we decided to try "Il Canale" an Italian restaurant in the Georgetown neighborhood. The restaurant was clean, well lit and the wait staff friendly, courteous and efficient. The food was fabulous particularly the eggplant parmesan and the pasta with pesto but the best part was the dessert. We had the most delicious cannoli, which was as good or better than the cannoli we've had in Italy.
