“Superb Foodie Italian”
Reviewed 19 May 2010

This is undoubtedly one of the finest restaurants in D.C., managed by the owner Paolo Sacco. Tosca serves consistently excellent northern Italian cuisine prepared by the superb young chef Massimo Fabbri. Chef Fabbri oversees a talented kitchen staff who carefully and skillfully prepare his well thought out menus. There is no drowning of food in tomato sauce or cheese, this is a gourmet restaurant for those who appreciate outstanding food and wines. The wine list, I might add, is well chosen and wonderfully presented, thereby allowing the diner to select properly. The wait staff are attentive and gracious, never intrusive. Tosca has instantly become one of our favourites, and will be visited on our 2 or 3 trips a year to D.C. In fact, Tosca is itself a good reason for visiting D.C.

“Excellent - twice in a row!!”
Reviewed 3 January 2010

We're foodies .. we love good italian food and good italian wine. We're happy to say we finally - after many misses - found both of these things at Tosca.

The first time we went to Tosca, we took advantage of their Theatre Menu; 3 course meal for $35/person. It was worth every penny and gave us a reason to go back and try their regular menu, which we did last night. Had a wonderful dinner; excellent bottle of wine (a Cannanau, which is difficult to find); and excellent service.

Tosca offers valet parking for $5, which is outstanding.

“Tosca's Best Days Are In The Past”
Reviewed 21 September 2009

Not even a front page article in the Sunday Washington Post is going to change the fact that the best days of Tosca are in the past. While the staffs ability to excessively flatter lobbyists and political hacks fill seats during the weekday lunch hour, the evening service to regular customers tells the true story. Wooden service delivers rather boring food with the surrounds of dusty curtains splashed with various sauces. In an attempt to draw the casual dining crowd, Tosca has a new fixed price - family friendly menu - pasta bowls and soft drinks. Children are also encouraged to text and play video games at the table. And do not dare complain if this activity disrupts your dinner as staff calls them "Tosca's Junior Lobbyists." My wife and I were regulars but no more. An expensive and frankly dirty restaurant among more exciting Penn Quarter lunch and dining locations.
