“Good place to sit and recoup”

Not really much of a park, but a good spot for people watching and having a sandwich outside before you go on to your next attraction.

“Disappointing trip!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2009

My sister, her kids, and I were really excited about going here after reading the good review about the park! We were disappointed when we got there and none of the things mentioned in the other review were there. There is no statue of Lenin or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s jail door or part of a cobblestone street from a Warsaw ghetto. There is no memorial to the journalists who lost their lives while doing their job. There is a fenced off and locked section of the park with a huge picture of the Brandenburg Gate from the Berlin Wall, but we saw no remnant of the Wall. The one cool thing that was there was a wall of art made by school kids depicting pictures of freedom, but that was all. It was a nice park in the middle of the city, but all in all it was a disappointing trip.

“What a wonderful experience!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2007

Our oldest son had visited Freedom Park on a Spring '07 trip to Washington DC and encouraged us to stop there on our June visit. It was an easy Metra ride to the Rosslyn stop and a short walk from there. There's this little park just above busy city streets with historical artifacts all relating to freedom...and it's wonderful! There's so much to think about and see...from a toppled Lenin statue from the demise of the USSR, to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s jail cell door, to a cobblestone street from the Warsaw Ghetto and on to parts of the Berlin Wall! Also, there is a memorial to journalists who lost their lives in the line of their work...very moving. We found Daniel Pearl's name and another favorite of mine, Robert Capa. It's totally understated and awesome.
