“Good Choice !!”
Reviewed 16 August 2011

We spent six nites at this hampton in june for a family vacation. From the moment we walked in the people were very friendly and helpful..It was our first vacation to a big city and i was pleased with our choice for it met our needs. the hotel people were very friendly especially the private car drivers. We had not used public transportation before (sorry in texas we drive everywhere!!) so the metro, taxis were new to us. One of the drivers used to drive for pres clinton and he was the best!! The rate was the same as the taxi and felt so special with our own driver. the metro stops are very close and so is union station. We ended up walking almost everywhere for it was a nice walk and felt very safe. I was surprized that it was so easy to find the museums etc. The hotel is in a good location and centrally located to most sites. The safeway is great and so nearby.. we purchased some deli chicken one nite and drinks etc. (dont forget to get the safeway discount card) There is also a subway sandwich place nearby which helped save money also. We really enjoyed dc and the hotel made it even better. the breakfast was very good and they changed out the main breakfast meats each day and the ladies worked hard to restock and keep the area clean.. the snacks in the afternoon was very good tooand a nice extra bonus... Hot cookies and lemonade on weekdays..The pool is my only complaint for it was very small and always crowded with rude kids. The kids just took over the pool and it was also very hot in there. this hotel had a higher rate than other hamptons we have stayed but it was still cheaper than the others in this area. this vacation will always be one of our favorites and the hampton helped make it so.. i cant wait to return one day and would stay here again!!

I was really impressed with the Hampton Inn. Location is very good and my family enjoyed walking to all the monuments and museums which are all well within trekking distance. Service in the hotel was first class and staff are certainly motivated to go the extra mile for guests. Rooms were first class and spotless. Breakfast was really fantastic with the staff again going the extra mile. One of the best city hotels I have stayed in and the best Hampton Inn by a mile.

We were met by smiling faces when we walked in. The staff was incredibly nice & welcoming. We were on the top floor & our room was very nice, beyond clean & stifling hot. It was VERY hot & humid that week in DC. It took about a day for the room to cool down to a comfortable level, but that is my only complaint. The breakfast is outstanding; you get a newspaper every morning, and they usually have some kind of snack--fruit, cookies or lemonade--in the early evening, just when tired tourists are coming back for dinner & rest. The room was excellently cleaned when requested, they only replace towels you leave on the floor--their effort at conservation that I totally dig. Free internet, small but nice pool--pool area was very clean. Staff was very helpful with info about sightseeing & local places to eat (three cheers for Busboys & Poets, Matchbox Pizza & Chinatown Express!) We asked the concierge if he could request a taxi for us (6 am day of departure). We got a cool guy driving a very nice town car. The rates are reasonable, but they aren't exactly a bargain; however, at the end of your stay, you will know beyond a doubt that you got your money's worth. Happy Traveling everyone!

Room Tip: We could hear out downstairs neighboros (vents) more distinctly than our nextdoor neighbors--who we...

My wife and I stayed for nine nights at this Hampton Inn for a combination of meetings. We made reservations and had several conversations with a very pleasant employee regarding our desire to get either connecting rooms or at least rooms next to each other for a portion of the stay in which friends would also be there. We arrived at 3:00 for check in and were told that check-in was at 4:00. No problem with that, but the clerk claimed no knowledge of our previous arrangements and promised only to try to get both rooms on the same floor. We finally got into our room at 5:00 and did succeed in gettting a room close to our friends. My wife and I are both Hilton Honors Gold members, so we had hoped for more than the room next to the ice machine that we received. Well, off to a bad start, but the week generally went fine. The hotel's location near the Convention Center and Metro was a plus. The breakfast was standard fare, although they did vary the offerings a bit from day to day. The room had the standard Hampton Inn amenities, which are pretty good (small refrigerator, microwave oven). The business center has four computers, although we found that several of them stayed busy with children playing games. In general, the hotel lived up to expectations despite our somewhat strained arrival.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the room next to the ice machine.

We absolutely loved this hotel. I love Hampton Inn and we stay in one almost every time we travel. The breakfast at this particular hotel is out of this world. This Hampton is more expensive than other Hampton Inn hotels because of the location so I am glad that the food and service reflected that. The breakfast area staff were so kind and friendly. Everyone was very helpful and happy to serve in any way possible. When searching for a hotel before taking our trip to D.C, I relied upon Trip Advisor and am very grateful for the reviews. There are many hotels in the D.C. area that are much more expensive. Why pay more when you can have the best for less?

We stayed at the Hampton Inn for two nights in order to be close to the Convention Center, which was only five minutes walk (about two blocks). The hotel is also located about equi-distance between the Metro stops at the Convention Center and Chinatown. Although we didn't find any great places to eat near the hotel, there is a large Safeway on the street behind the hotel. Chinatown is within walking distance and there are a lot of eateries and shops in that area as well as a Metro stop that goes directly to the National Airport and to Federal Triangle, near the Mall. As other people have said, the breakfast was very plentiful with a variety of hot and cold foods, including scrambled eggs, sausage, fresh fruit and many croissants, bagels & muffins. The staff was very helpful and friendly. My only complaint was there are only two elevators for such a large hotel and they seem to move very slowly. Several times, we had to wait more than 5 minutes and resorted to the stairs on one occasion. We stayed in a king suite which was roomy and very clean. Although the comforter on the bed was lumpy, the bed was comfortable. We would stay there again, especially on the weekend due to the lower rates. It was about $60 less per night on the weekend as compared to a weekday.

Room Tip: Book a weekend room for cheaper rates.

We went to DC to realize an old wish: be on Constitution Avenue for the July 4 parades. Decided to stay for 3 nights at the Hampton Inn based on Tripadvisor's good reviews. We were not disappointed! Upon arriving at the reception our room was not ready yet, so the receptionist promptly proposed 2 other rooms we could choose from! Our room was very clean (always great when traveling with a toddler), and have good dimensions and are well furnished. Our rate included free wifi and breakfast, which is great. We used the gym and the indoor pool: both well maintained and clean. The hotel's location is pretty good and walking distance from approx everything, included the Convention Center subway lines which we used extensively. So all in all a very pleasant stay with extremely helpful and resourceful staff, nice family amenities (indoor pool), with well maintained premises, very clean.
