I probably would not have stayed here if making my own travel arrangements due to the cost $269. and up) but I was lucky enough to visit with a group with a decent nightly rate. The staff (especially housekeeping, maintenance, valet, and breakfast staff) were all very friendly. The location of this hotel is perfect for attending any event at the Convention Ctr or the Verizon Ctr. We also found the walk easy enough to the National Mall and White House. Chinatown is around the corner with great shopping and restaurants on 7th Street. Must visit Busboys & Poets on 5th & K Streets for a meal. Hotel only offers valet parking for $34 per night - better deals can be found at the lots just up the street. The rooms were very nice and clean and breakfast is what you would expect from Hamptons.

We spent three nights at this Hampton Inn while on vacation and found it to be very comfortable and the location couldn't have been better. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was quiet and clean, plus, the bed was very comfortable. For some reason, there was no side chair in the area where there was a floor lamp. We called the front desk and they had one brought to our room within minutes. The staff was considerate in assigning us a corner room on the top floor (13th) to assure we had peace and quiet. It is nice that Hampton always has good coffee and a variety of tea flavors available in the lobby. The complimentary breakfast was okay with a good variety of selections. The central location of this property made it easy to navigate the various modes of public transportation. Also, there were many good restaurants within walking distance. We were allowed to checkin our luggage after we checked out since our Amtrak train did not leave until later in the evening. By having a secure place for our luggage, we were able to do some more sight-seeing, etc. When we return to D.C., we are very likely to stay there again.

Room Tip: Higher floors tend to be more quiet.

I stayed there for approximately 20 straight weeks. The staff was sooo helpful and courteous. To Britney, Monica, Christopher, Javier, Angela, john and john, and especially the one with the messy handwriting. I apologize but I cannot recall your name, you were so nice to work with. I know there were many more that I worked with and all were great. Thank you for making the experience a pleasant one. The staff was like family.

Room Tip: Just ask, the front desk is extremely helpful. The corner suites while nice and large, can be cold during the coldest of nights.

We nearly always stay at Hampton Inns when available as we've found they are consistent in quality. This one was no exception. The staff was friendly and helpful in making suggestions/giving directions. The rooms were clean and smelled fresh and the king room seemed especially spacious. The pool and hot tub were fine though the hot tub could have been a bit warmer. My only complaint would have been that some of the breakfast items were a bit unappealing; the thin slices of ham were floating in a lot of water and looked unappetizing, and the oatmeal was severely undercooked, but the rest of the items were just fine. Just a warning for those wishing to book a room in the near future (spring 2014): there is a lot of construction going on adjacent to this lovely Hampton Inn and the noise does start fairly early in the morning, even on the weekend. If you plan to sleep in, you may be annoyed.

The location was very good. The hotel sits on the edge of Chinatown so there are plenty of restaurants nearby (including other cuisine besides Chinese) and it is within walking distance to the Newseum, the International Spy Museum, the Crime and Punishment Museum, Ford Theater, Smithsonian Museum of America Art, and the Verizon Center. Other museums and monuments are a bit further but you can certainly walk if you are inclined. Otherwise, a Metro stop is just a few blocks away.

Overall, a very pleasant weekend for two empty-nesters who've been traveling with kids for the last 30 years!

Dear Guest:

Thank you for your feedback. Our hotel staff was delighted to have you as our guest during your recent stay. As you suggested, our hotel location and proximity to attractions make it a much sought after lodging facility in the Penn Quarter/China Town area. Whether you are visiting DC on leisure or on an important business meeting our hotel is well suited for all your needs.

As you have suggested, DC is very bustling with creative energy with the addition of young professionals making DC their home. While short term you might find cranes in DC, in a short couple of months new structures will make the City much more attracitive for travellers.

Thank you for your loyalty to Hamptons and Hilton family of Hotels.

Sincerely,

We stayed during a very busy weekend for a volleyball tournament. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. I used the laundry facility with no problem each night. The breakfast was good and well stocked throughout the morning. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Would recommend this hotel with no problem.
